You're implying that Steam hasn't fallen back in 2010 when the floodgates started being opened up more and more with this shit.
>>
>>333272085
How about an overnight amusement park set in Ikea. You have to sign a release waver and if the "monsters" get you they shock you and tie you up to hang you in the middle of the store for the night.

Only available in Australia.

This is neat, but why buy a VIVE for this when I can just drive to IKEA in like 10 minutes
>>
>>333272581
Because the Vive is about $100 cheaper than a reasonable car!
>>
>>333271442
I've gone through Steam's entire catalogue, and basically 99% of everything released past 2015 was fucking abysmal.

Also there's a lot of games on Steam.
>>
>>333272581
this is for rural america who have to drive 4 hours to get an Ikea
>>
>>333271857
you can't leave the VR
>>
>>333271703

This, if it actually served a useful purpose, like a 3d home builder with ikea furniture, it would be pretty damn neat.
3d build instructions would be nice too.

Alas, ikea seems to have taken the retarded assclown approach that needed the least work done
>>
>>333271442
I dunno where else you'd put something like this, it looks pretty neat though, if you can like buy stuff directly in the VR showroom.
>>
>>333272720
I don't think rural america gives a shit about chinese plastic furniture that breaks in a year when they have quality pieces made with finished oak
>>
>>333272581
I want a VR game where i can hug. Fujisaki
>>
>>333271442
i'll be honest with you this is pretty fucking tight.

Imagine being able to see the actual size of an object before you buy it? Digital stores on amazon with VR shit that let's you pick things up and look at them from every direction and actually use it first is a neat concept.

How many times have you bought a computer case or something not knowing EXACTLY how big it was going to be? Even in pictures it's hard to tell with a lot of shit.

But whatever. Bitch about shit you don't have to use or even look at in a game list.

Faggots.
>>
>>333272085
Use kitchenware and electronic items to McGyver yourself weapons or distractions. Hide in closets/under beds to avoid the serial killer. To escape the store you must find enough pegs plus a hex wrench to build yourself a ladder and escape through the skylights.
>>
>>333272905
Just wait 2-3 years for full-body tracking and silicone dolls becoming more affordable
>>
>>333272581
not everyone lives within 10 minutes of a fucking ikea. Even in a city the cloest I lived was an hour and half.

If I were to go to an ikea now I would have to drive 5 hours.
>>
>>333272915
>alternative ending where you construct a ladder from scratch using only pencils and measuring tapes
>>
>>333273084

>mfw their delivery prices are 6-8x as much as any other place

I don't even get it, do they not want to sell their shit?
>>
>>333272914
That would be pretty neat.

Going to newegg and putting together a PC in virtual reality before you try to put it together in real life might be fun. It would require a lot of physics programming to get that sort of experience right though. Maybe it would be too much to expect from a free application.
>>
>>333271442
Could someone please explain why games like this are a bad thing?

I honestly would never have known about it if not for OP's thread.

even just a simple catalog or store would be neat in VR. I would just shopping for a french press yesterday and I had no idea how big any of them were other than the listed specs but sometimes ya just can't get a feel for it right.

It would just be a nice addition for online shopping.
>>
>>333273216

>physics

Now really, it would take a lot of effort to recreate every last physical item in the store as a 3d model with the corresponding connection markers and such so you can "build" them together.

Not really worth it just to appease sum poor gaymer fucks but for a furniture store it completely makes sense

Do you get stabbed by a muslim at checkout? If so, day 1 purchase.
>>
>>333272914

I agree completely with you about the idea. But it's fucking steam.

It's a place people go to look for video games. If more companies start doing this shilling shit Ikea is, steam, origin, etc, all the gaming stores will turn into fucking sharper image catalogs with the games tucked away towards the back faster than you can blink.

Anon steam had software on it for years and years now.
Now it has software on it for Valve's own product.

How the fuck is this out of place or weird?
>>
>>333274990

>he doesn't see the difference between a gaming store selling software that likely crosses interest with many gamers, and the possibility of steam becoming a front end for Ikea, Samsung, Whole Foods, etc, who can and will pay a lot more for the space than the game companies.

It seems to me that that answer should be kind-of self evident, if you need it spoonfed, ok.
>>
>>333271857
If you ever went to an ikea store, you would understand
>>
>>333271642
yup, big gouges in the corner of every table leg, large chips taken out of every table corner.
>>
>>333275396

And how is this not crossing interests for gamers while we have battlestations with ikea furniture every fucking day?
You could go into /g/ and a station thread and you would find probably hundreds of ikea furniture in there.
Its also a VR tool - a shitty one but as mentioned before in the thread, it could be good.
And VR is now core shit for Valve and Steam anon.

I see no problems here really.

Its a 2x2km brick, with 2 floors. Its insanely huge. And you have to walk trough the entire thing once you go in.
That might sound awful, but IKEA has enough high quality goods, model showcases(90% of the upper floor is "example" living rooms), test couches and beds spread all over.

Its a experience.
And its fun to go there, if you are shopping for something, because they will have the type of object.
>>
>>333276228
>just really easy to get lost in
Dude what? There's fucking arrows on the floors and walls showing directions. The only thing that's hard to find in Ikeas are the bathrooms
>>
>>333277694
>have to walk trough

Now I only base this on the 2 IKEAs I frequented, but there was always a shortcut to the market-like area straight away
>>
>>333276115
Yes, it is
The first time I went to IKEA as an adult, all by myself, I spent like 5 hours walking back and forward searching for all the shit, I was tired and hungry, almost crying, my phone died and I had to overpay for taxi to get all the stuff home.
I hate being grown up and all
