Just like Oculus, its coming out to a few lucky folk while the rest of us who pre-ordered right when it went on sale and paid for express shipping are cucked.

I dont even have a shipping confirmation from those cunts.
>>
>>333266331
Well at least you didn't end up in the May batch. I am not fussed its only a month away I'll dick around with dark souls 3 or something until then.

Hopefully that means delivery and payment goes smoothly.

Does this have a screen door effect like the oculus? Thats the one thing holding me back on it.

Cant i go to a samsung store and try one of these out or something?

Do they work with SLI?
>>
>>333267217
Hmm I ordered with a visa debit card, they might end up outright rejecting it. I should've used PayPal.

Dealing with customs in Australia is probably gonna be a major pain in the ass as well.
>>
>>333267330
I haven't used either, but they both have the same screen resolution and the Rift is reported to still have the screen door, albeit severely diminished to the point where you usually don't notice it.
>>
>>333267330
Apparently the SDE is slightly more prominent on the Vive, but you get like 30% more FoV.
>>
>>333267302
I wonder if they'll bring another 10 hours of anti-hype.

Theres more games to try but even more of those games are gimmicks and demoes.
>>
>>333267731
There are no games I am hyped about, but I might grab these titles

>Vanishing Realms
>Quar: Battle for Gate 18
>Skyworld
>Babel Tower to the gods
>Legend of Luca
>Budget Cuts
>Pierhead Arcade
>Felt tip circus
>5089
>Jeeboman
>Space pirate trainer
>A10 VR

There are a few decent freebies up for grabs as well besides the bundled Job simulator

>Waltz of the Wizard
>Spell Fighter
>The Lab

Itching for some more RPGs, mech games, RTS with 3D positioning similar to homeworld, spehss building game similar space engineers with motion controls and planets.

I ordered 3 hours after launch because I was debating whether the Vive is worth $1370 CAD. Long story short, I'm in the 2nd wave which could be anywhere from the 6th-29th. Fucking should have just ordered the moment it went live.

Well I am not expecting much early on, some better titles might pop out of the blue up by this years end. Once PSVR is released there might be a few higher budget multiplats for grabs.

Second generation onward is where it will likely gain traction but I do not have the patience to wait that long.

In the mean time there is porn, 3D audio, and some low budget titles and applications to fool around with.

this is absolute nonsense. SDE is still there and still very prominent. the problem is mitigated by doing cartoony graphics and never letting people see too far away. you try something like project cars and everything in the distance is a pixellated mess.

I am in a similar boat, don't want to waste money on shovel ware that will end up picking dust. Need to find some games with decent replay value.

I am willing to factor in around $100 to $200 on vidya depending on whether I pay for customs or not otherwise I'll have to be stingier.

I don't think I'd get much replay value out of budget cuts, its the same levels over and over. The game is fairly short for what it is worth as well. It is a pretty cool concept but it looks more like a tech demo than a full game.

The arcade shooters like a10VR and space pirate trainer look boring as fuck on video but apparently a lot of people have been digging it in VR. They Look like casual games that would have decent replay value.

The best on that list for me would probably be skyworlds, Quar, and Vanishing Realms.

Quar doesn't seem like it would be highly replayable unless there is multiplayer and skirmishing.

Skyworlds seems like your typical 4X which can have decent replay value.

And Vanishing Realms looks the most promising, it gives me a gothic 1 vibe for some reason.

5089 looks bland as fuck, but it seems to have reasonable depth and mechanics for what it is worth.

I am excited about spell fighter, it is a freebie tech demo and fairly short but looks fun as fuck to fool around with. I am curious to see if thumbstick locomotion is as bad as many people have been claiming it to be.

I'd hate to be limited to teleportation, or cockpits for locomotion. There are a few other techniques but they also detract from the experience. Best one so far is redirected walking though you'd need a large enough space and the application to know where you are headed prior to altering your trajectory.
>>
>>333270661
They're not starting for another 20-30 minutes.
>>
>>333271021

I think with a large enough space, it should be possible to make the player unable to leave it with his eyes open. But yeah, not really practical for home use.

If you want an A10 flight sim, then try DCS.
It has native VR support. It had a motion controller support tag as well, not sure if they have implemented support for them yet but it would be cool flipping switches and levers with the vive controllers.

I wonder if you can turn the Vive's front camera into something like Leap Motion. That way you could use your hands to push buttons, but also use a HOTAS setup.
Alternatively there's always the option of strapping the leap motion sensor to the headset, of course.
>>
>>333271784
I saw a webm once about this
>>
>>333271784
That was probably their aim with the VDK1, it had 2 stereo cameras which would have allowed them to do something similar to leap motion and more.

But sadly they failed to deliver on that and reverted to a single camera lacking stereo. Still a huge boon for roomscale despite the offset with the modeled controllers up close.
>>
>>333271784
I have a leap motion. After years of firmware updates, it still loses track of my hands too often to be practical. You need some kind of controller for good accuracy, it seems.

At least if you mount the sensor on your head. And indeed, your palms tend to face away from your face, so your fingers are often too occluded.

If you combined input from both the headset's and lighthouses' cameras, then maybe you could do it.

>curved screens
useless for VR
>less blue light
??? by which you mean better color gamut? they're already very high gamut, of course they can get better but it's really a non-issue.
>better resolution
no shit.
>possibility to use directports
what? you mean a 'direct mode', some embedded solution to project a 2D image to a simulated 3D screen (without any software eg. Virtual Desktop)? or do you mean more ports on the HMD?

The CV1 Vive, at least, will last a while. Wireless will be the big upgrade but it will be an add-on, a small backpack/belt. Aside from that it has pretty much everything it will likely need for a decent life-span. CV1 Rift is a shitshow which will require a major, $200+ upgrade already, and shitty facebook will probably push a V2 sooner rather than later because they're stupid jews.

Big caveat is how long the impending SVO/vulkan/polycore rendering revolution is going to take to fall down on us, and how much more power these things will actually open up, if that would enable a higher resolution sooner than expected.
>>
>>333272954
The Rift headset and the Vive headset are pretty much the same thing. And you'll notice that the Vive already costs 200 dollars more.

Hell for gentoo I would be content with 4K per eye with same FoV or higher, 3D grip haptics on motion controllers similar to tactical haptics, and built in leap motion that also acts a a front facing camera for roomscale.

Later on perhaps dwelve into projecting that image straight into your eyeballs, or utilize tech like light field displays once the hardware can handle it and decent software optimization techniques are developed with it in mind.
