It's perfectly fine, but not really a major improvement over the original. It's one of those "get it if you haven't played it, skip it if you have" sort of remakes.
Actually, one thing I'll criticize it for is that the cutscenes are a little lacking in punch compared to the original game, since they're all in-engine. Really minor complaint, though.

Terribly underrated game because it was Japan only. No reason not to play it if you have a modded wii.

Played this myself. The problem is you play as much of the game as there is to play within 5 minutes.
