Magic is fucking garbage in DS3 compared to earlier. Its actually easier to complete the game as a str character.

Miracles are kind of garbage on a spell by spell basis but they are scaling the way they were always supposed to. The only people who are butthurt right now are hybrid retards who can't have half of the screen worth of health bar, wear armor AND kill enemies in 1.5 casts.
>>
>>333258012
Miracles were idiotically good at the launch of DaS2. Early on clerics combined decent defense, fast rolls, that stupid ass mace that raped armored enemies from the get go AND miracles that did, like, 70% to bosses in 3 uses.
>>
>>333257769
Pyromancy (and all other magic it seems) are mana based now. not sure how I feel about that.
>>
>>333258384
Pyromancy was stupidly easy to spec into in DaS though, fucking annoying when you're having a really good fair fight with someone and when they feel a bit pressured they can just break out the black flame.

So what you're saying is all builds but pure magic is for babies right?
>>
>>333261646

No. We just find challenge more stimulating. No need to be mad, son.
>>
>>333257958
Spells and Miricles have inverse diminishing returns, so the first 20 levels give almost no benifit, then it starts getting better scaling and after 50 it gets huge bonuses for each point.

It's how the Arcane Hunters Tools worked in Bloodborne, it was worth taking Arc to 99 because they still scaled well all the way to the end.

It makes early-game a bit of a pain (but it's easy enough to go through with low stats and INT/FAI scaling weapons work like STR/DEX) and makes hybrid builds much less viable, but really Mages should not be able to wear heavy armour and fast-roll while also having lots of health.

This is how it should be, and I hope it remains that way.

Does anybody know how weapon arts function? They use mana, but doesn't that mean if you want to use weapon arts, you're investing in a stat that nothing else will benefit from?

Trying to be the least casual is actually pretty casual. It basically screams "I'm 14 and I think I'm hardcore for playing Dark Souls"
>>
>>333263453
A Vit/Str build.
>>
>>333263365
What do you mean?

Attunment increases your mana pool (called "Focus Points) and grants additional Attuntment slots every couple levels. If you are planning on only using physical weapons but want to make extensive use of Weapon Arts then investing a little in ATT might be worth it, but as long as you arnt spamming certain weapon arts that cost heaps of FP you won't need a lot. Just carry 2-3 Ash Estus flasks to refill if you want to use them lots.

Intelligence and Faith are different stats which increase the damage on spells and magic weapons. Don't level these at all if you don't want to use magic or magic weapons.
>>
>>333263714
Not really, some people just don't want to accidentally play the game with the easiest build for the first time.
>>
>>333263445
Actually there's an entire weapon path that scales off luck. With a "hollow" gem you can turn any regular weapon into Luck scaling.

Luck also affects how much damage poison/bleed damage your weapons do, so a Hollow infusion of a weapon with inate bleed can be viable.
>>
>>333263559
>>333263614
>>333263736

But is it Fun and Good?
>>
>>333263843
I was wondering if there was a negative side to increasing my overall mana to get more from weapon arts, or if they were just wasted levels. It seemed strange to have a stat linked to something a melee build would want to use, but otherwise wouldn't benefit from.

>>
>>333264097
> It seemed strange to have a stat linked to something a melee build would want to use, but otherwise wouldn't benefit from.

I still have no idea what you mean. There's no negative affect from any stat except wasted levels.

Vigor, Endurance and Attunment increase your Health, Stamina and Mana, respectfully. What you level depends on which bar you feel you need more of, Red, Green or Blue. None will directly increase your damage, just let you get hit more, attack more in quick succession, or use more spells/weapon arts.

Strength, Dex, Inteligence and Faith are needed to meet the requirements of weapons and spells and increase their damage through scaling.
>>
>>333264245
They've sped them up quite a bit in 3, been watching people pvping and theres just tons of fume ultra great swords because without a massive investment in HP they pretty much 1-2 shot people at SL120.

I haven't seen much of DS3. Is there more variety in movesets compared to DS1 and 2? I don't want every greatsword in the game to have the exact same moveset aside from an R2 or something.
>>
>>333264569
Sorry, I'm tired and in pain, I don't think I'm articulating myself properly. I didn't mean to add "or if they're wasted levels", I was trying to say that them being wasted levels would be the negative.

If I want a melee build, and want to use weapon arts, is it worth investing any levels in Attunement, considering I won't be using the unlocked slots for spells? Do weapon arts drain the bar quite quickly?
I know almost nothing about DaS3, I'm just wondering if focusing on weapon arts as a playstyle is viable. Also, can you 'trigger' weapon arts during attacks, like transforming attacks from Bloodborne?
>>

That depends entirely on your playstyle. If you aren't using weapon arts, then obviously not. It's not a hard concept to grasp.

>>333265395
Bows are significantly faster to fire and their projectiles move much faster in general so they're much better in 3.
>>
>>333265487
I'm fine with that. I just want to be a quick nigger that has to maneuver to get shots off. But can also go slow and pick off enemies fro far off.

Deprived actually is pretty casual as you don't need to think about your points much. They're shit for builds and min-maxing so it's kinda the brain-dead class once you get a good weapon.

I have to ask. Anyone knows if coop play is as fun as in Dark Souls II: SoTFS?

I played all games single, but then with two friends, we always make party-builds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres for example) and we love to play together. SoTFS was the best in that, fun covenants, huge builds variety, coop maps (DLC), the fucking belfry.

Is there anything like that in Dark Souls III?
>>
>>333265923
What kind of retarded question is that? It's literally the exact same co-op mechanic.

>>
>>333265506
I don't know the extent of Weapon Arts at all. Either you're missing my question still, or I'm in a state of delirium where I think I'm saying something different here.

Assume my playstyle will be using a lot of weapon arts. Is that a bad idea, or do WA not require much mana on average, meaning I could clear a stage with it active with a melee class and its starting mana bar size?
I'll give up asking for the specific details of weapon arts because you seem to ignore them.
>>
>>333266530
Not all weapons have the same art or the same cost. This depends entirely on the weapons you want to use and how much you use the arts. How are you finding this confusing?
>>
>>333266642
Because I've made an effort to avoid the majority of infromation regarding DaS3, learned about weapon arts, and figured I'd ask here because it seemed like a simple question that somebody struggled to answer properly. I don't know if mana restoring items are easy to come by, I don't know how much mana is required for weapon arts, I don't know if weapon arts act like weapon transformations from BB. So I was trying to ask a question in a specific way to get a specific answer.
>>
>>333264018
How early can you get this type of weapon? The BBS build was the most fun I had playing through DeS because you got way more drops from enemies.
>>
>>333266642
Nigga's trying to get an estimate. As a purely physical warrior who uses weapon arts here and there, how useful is ATT?

Example, if you were to longsword it up the whole game, would the starting FP bar work, or would you feel limited?
Is it like DaS2's ADP, where dumping a few points into it is helpful for everyone, or only if you really like using weapon arts?
>>
>>333257547
Luck is overpowered AS fuck. Poison resin on a max uchigatana and a high luck value oft around 50 will poison and bleed anyone with 80 resists. Scaling works a lot different now. Once you hit about 45 oft a stat gains are exponential for every third point.
>>
>>333267560
That depends entirely on the weapon you're using and how much you use the art. I've already said that twice. Weapon arts are unique, some of them are buffs, some of them are projectiles, some of them are strong attacks. All of them have their own costs.
>>
>>333267669
Do you know how good blessed weapons are?

So, out of curiosity, is there a ring that regenerates mana like Demons? I mean, we've had HP regen items and rings, which I assume are still in, so is there a mana one now (again)?
>>
>>333268649
There's rings that reduce consumption, increase restoration with flasks and one that restores FP when you do a critical attack.

Weapon arts vary greatly, some are a powerful attack that uses a small (5-10%) amount of your mana bar, others are temporay buffs that use varying amounts, some can be chained together for a series of very powerful attacks but burn through your whole bar quickly (the Dancers twin swords let you spin around seemingly for as long as you have FP).

You restore FP with Ash Estus flasks, which work identically to regular Estus Flasks. In DaS3 you can choose how to divide your Estus. If you have 10 total, you can have 10 Health Estus and 0 Magic Estus, 5/5, 4/6, 9/1 or any combonation you want.

If you are confidnat in your ability to not need healing then you can carry loads of Ash Estus and spam powerful weapon arts. Or you can use them sparingly and have lots of healing avalible to you.

I am tempted for a luck build since i love luck even if it's useless in some games.

It's been tested and it's +/- 1 Tier range. That means +4s can be invaded by +9s which is fairly generous. It only protects +3s but you can still twink them with +6 weapons.

Strength isn't good, it's the same.
Magic is just much shitter
>>
>>333274047
do you have any webms with katana sword art???
>>
>>333257547
Luck actually has an upgrade path so luck is a viable stat, probably going to be hard as fuck but still viable.,
>>
How's the Claymore this time around? Disappointed by it in 2
>>
>>333257547
>get luck to 40
>fully upgrade Anri's Straight Sword
>r1 becomes your nuclear option
Luck is too casual senpai
>>
I may as well ask this

Is the game going to kick you offline if you use party chat like in DS2?

Thanks, Anon.

Does the stat itself affect combat in any capacity?

All right, gang. Are you going to be sweet or sour grapes?
>>
>>333283128
I think it's the same as in DaS moveset wise but I could be wrong.
>>
So are weapons in this game more like BB in the sense that there are fewer but all of them are unique or are there lots of weapons that share arts and movesets?
>>
>>333278995
>stunlocking and buffs
>least casual
>>
>>333257881
technically there's 5 kings
>>
What's the word on infusions? Are there more? Can you infuse weapons and get decent scaling as an int/faith character like in DaS2?

How is the magic variety across the 4 different types?
>>
How viable is it to play a pure caster this time around in the game? Even with Ashen flasks and what not do you still have enough FP to get through areas?
>>
>>333257547
Speedrunning.

It's like autism^2 you will be further from reality and normies than you could ever imagine
>>
Typically I'll go light-roll, light-armor, heavy weapon in Souls. How is that this time around?
>>
>>333262926
It's a bug dumbass.
Crystal chime for example scales correctly and is one of the few tools that do. Pyromancy flame as well.
>>
>>333287265
sorcery is fucking garbage until the last quarter of the game, pyromancy is god-tier all throughout the game
>>
>>333265264
Bows have always been viable

Get good fag
>>
>>333289509
Great. I bet sorc is nothing but a hundred boring variations of soul arrows too isn't it? Might go pyro afterall unless miracles are any good? Heard they're partially shit but the actual support spells are still good.
>>
>>333289976
miracles are good as a supplement to physical builds but they do awful damage. Sorc has a couple new interesting spells but nothing too fancy, Pyro is more fun IMO
>>
>>333290129
Need to go full int-faith to get the most out of it, right? Is pyro FP hungry or is it efficient enough to get you through an area?
>>
>>333290550
40-40 int/faith. you need to split your flasks 50/50 or so between hp and fp, and use melee weapons on easy enemies
>>
>>333264091
Fun and good are just buzzwords for games with shit quality and no substance.
>>
Does Pyromancy depend more on equipment or stats in this game?
>>
>>333291107
Pyro is like hex in DaS2. Int+faith scale
>>
>>333290840
Thanks for making me a bit dumber for reading this post. Seriously my IQ just went down a few points because of you

>>
Does it have a story this time or is it the Same shit as the last 3 games?
>>
