Aside from the fluctuating nincore, it's pretty good.
It's an overrated RPGmaker game with mediocre writing, terrible pacing (as most SNES JRPG's do), and is generally just a bad game that is only liked because of nostalgia.
The best FF games are FFT, FF9, andDigital Devil Saga.
Other than the shitty graphics, is the PC version the ultimate edition content wise?
Like you can supposedly mod the flaws away but is it worth getting as a best possible choice?

7 was merely continuing the trend started by its predecessors. If there was a point FF started going downhill it's with 4 and its ATB shit and heavier focus on story and graphics over gameplay.

It's not. Sabin controls are so broken and they forcefully take away characters so it forces you to build up characters you'll never use or care about. Ff6 is good though.
I just played FF VI because everyone recommended it to me and honestly
I don't get why its so loved
gameplay wise its both simplistic and incredibly easy, to the point there are pokemon games with harder difficulty
the characters aside from maybe one or two are bland and relatively generic and the villain, for how much he was hyped everywhere, was a massive disappointment
is this really the best FF? because I can't see myself playing any other game in the series if that's true.

Yes.
Ensemble cast.
All FF with ensemble casts end up doing better than others that focus on only 2 or 3 chars. at max.
Everyone except the throw away characters got exposition.
Villain was truly villainous for the sake of doing it.
Music was far superior to everything before it and on par or better than those after it.
Materia system came from magicite system so there's props to that too.
Best character customization without being weighted down with unnecessary shit while also keeping each character different by having innate skills.

VI was the stat of the cancer that killed FF.
FFI, III and V are the quintessential FFs. All of the key elements that give the series it's identity were born in these games - the same elements that started being stripped away from VI and on.
