They better have extras in general still. Different skins were fun to mess around with, like wide-shoulders Elena for example.
>>
Playing around with skins/filters/cheats is half of what made uncharted 2 so good.

ND is SJW as fuck now moron. Not allowed to make fun of fat people

ND officially decided to shitcan all ideas of 'fun' long ago, it just took them a while to weed the last bits out though.

>>
>>333243164

Forget if the others had it, but you can use an Elena skin in the single-player in 2. Since its Nathan Drake's animations it stretches Elena's shoulders to fit the skeleton. Looks funny if you're next to the real Elena to compare.
>>
>>333243125
>They ran out of memory.
How?
It was a shorter and graphically less impressive game than 2.
>>
>>333242095
There was no donut Drake in 4 either.

I really wished they had kept that unlockables store thing in 3, and keep it in 4. Made the game more fun for multiple playthroughs.
Playing entire game as donut Drake with mini gun was great

>>333243502

Not that guy, but tons of shit goes on in Uncharted 3. Everything involving that cruise ship for example. The graphics were an improvement too.

Still, it would've been nice to mess with extras like in 2
.
>>
>>333243874
Though they tried a lot of stuff, the game wasn't overall prettier i'd say, the characters looked like ass in closeups involving desert levels.

The lack of extras were really confusing, i was so hyped the whole game to start unlocking them in a second playthrough.

>>
>>333244246
I'd argue about the light heartedness.
It really only had some banter when Sully was in your team and he's missing half the time in every game.
The other's back and forth isn't really entertaining.

Unless you mean how Drake constantly gets into deeper shit seemingly by just existing which is played for comedy.
>>

No, every change games ever is SJW's fault.

>>
>>333245456

Have you seen the newest previews, the big open level in Madagasar?

It contains some truly next-gen banter, if it gets interupted by performing the objective or something happens, they'll stop and then once everything is back to normal they'll say "so what were you saying....?" and the conversation will resume.

So many games nowadays have protagonists that wont ever shutup (the new game from Killzone devs is one of the worst examples) but Uncharted does it well, somehow. I dont know what makes it different but the casual dialouge in the games always feels natural, even when Drake is alone, wheras in other games it always feels cringeworthing and like they are talking to (you) the player.

The new tomb raider games suffered from this. Maybe its just good acting.

I wouldn't really call that next-gen. Even GTA4 did that. They just put the effort into making it all flow
Bionic Commando 09 still does it the best, with Spencer just screaming at the boss to shut the fuck up over and over during his monologue
>>
>>333246037
It's not new anon, but yeah ND has a nack for very smooth dialogue transition that don't feel force. If they hit a rock they'd comment on it, if they saw what you saw, like treadmarks then they'd comment on it.

And speaking of the Madagascar level it seems like their going for more open ended level.
Chances are this would probably the one in the series that tries to be a bit srs bussiness.

I dont get it. Played the first uncharted and found it absolutly boring. The other ones look shit too but I didnt try them. Why do people think this series is good?
>>
>>333247191
Because it's pretty much a blockbuster game.
It's not amazing but it's not bad either. Play the second, fans alike have claimed its the best in the series.
>>
>>333247191w

Same anon same. The gameplay was overwhelmingly mediocre but the story was entertaining enough until near the end.

When i got to the end of the game and naughty dog actually had the balls to force THE MUMMY PLAGUE TWIST down my throat I chortled and completed it, never bothered with 2.

Uncharted 1 is shitty
>>
>>333246037
>>333246351
Hate to be the casual in this conversation but in Fallout 4 if you hit the mean/bad dialogue option (HATE NEWSPAPERS) while somebody else is talking your character moans painfully like they want him to shut up already. I was talking to Preston Garvey for the first time and when I did it, my character mumbled "Pfft. 'Minutemen' yeah what a load" or something like that. When Sturges started talking he mumbled "shut up fucking jockey"

This is truly next-gen interactions

Its not out of spite or anything like that, more like my backlog is huge and Id rather tackle that than add to it at the moment.

They had their chance to grab me with the 1st game and ALMOST had me. That mummy plague shit really was a dealbreaker, I know, I know, not that big a deal but with so many games to play its hard to justify jumping back into a series like that.

You are absolutely missing out on not giving U2 a try. It's a Terminator 2 tier sequel, everything good about the first entry is kept and improved while every new addition is stellar. You probably wouldn't like U3 as much, but it's still a fun game aswell.
>>
These games are ok but why are people paying full rrp? No replay value, horrible physics, mediocre shooting. Great buddy movie, action film vibes, but that's it.
>>
>>333248405

Yeah, I just wanted to throw it out there that this is one of those "first game is shit, second one is a complete turnaround" scenarios. Even if realistic 'cinematic' games aren't your thing, U2 gets it so right its not even funny. It's just plain good and worth a shot sometime.

The only thing I really liked about 1 was that the controls were tight, it looked nice for the time, and the story was alright until right before the end.

The bulk of the gameplay was pretty mediocre. Playable but not fun. Melee combat was forgettable, shooting was like the rest of the controls, tight and responsive but ultimately dull when the overwhelming majority of enemies are the same.

Story was what kept me going as admittedly Im an Indy fan and I was getting a kick out of the indy inspiration leeching from Uncharted. Then the story pulls a IT WAS THE EVIL MUMMY ALL ALONG twist on me and eh, I just lost interest and completed it for the sake of completion. Basically I have no real reason to play 2, but probably will someday I suppose. You arent the only one Ive seen hype it up.
>>
>>333248993

>>
>>333247191
Why do you care what other people enjoy? Why do we have to spoonfeed you? Why should anyone have to justify what they like to you? Here's your answer anyway: Taste is subjective. It is why some people hate this series while others love it. I have problems with Drake's Fortune, but for the time it is pretty good. Among Thieves is great all around. Drake's Deception is a slap in the face. If you want to complain about the series going grimdark you need to start with Drake's Deception. Nathan Drake, and much of the other characters, are all acting drastically out of character. Nate isn't Nate in that game at all.
>>
>>333248405
You got to remember that Drake's Fortune was made in 2007, and was the first game on a new platform. It was pretty damn ambitious. Among Thieves was everything that was good about the first game cranked to the max, while fixing everything that was bad.
>>
>>333248993
Indiana Jones follows the exact same formula. There is always something supernatural in the third act. Why is it okay when Indy does it, but not Uncharted?

Don't listen to the idiots, U2 sucks. The environments are more varied and interesting than U1 but it's still the same mediocre gameplay with lots of "oh no, exciting thing is happening!" scripted events that have no real sense of danger. It's pretty much impossible to complete a platforming section without some object breaking and Drake nearly falls but don't worry he'll always manage to grab something so it won't matter.
It's better than U1, much better, but that's not really an accomplishment.

Yeah you grab a sign post and after moving to the next object the post falls off, so what? This affects nothing. People have this idea in their heads that Uncharted tries to be a platformer and that there should be a challenge there when there is none. I'm going to tell you something that may blow your mind.

The platforming is just another way to travel like walking or running and isn't meant to be a challenge. It's called variety.

>Playing them back to back anyone can see this is just a lie.
I played them back to back and I thought the gameplay was extremely mediocre in both. The only thing I can remember U2 doing better was stealth.
>I remember dying quite a bit when i was in a collapsing building with people shooting at me and furniture moving everywhere, id say that was danger.
And I didn't die at all during that section, so I'd say it wasn't. The only part I remember having trouble with was the shootout in the village.
>The platforming is just another way to travel like walking or running and isn't meant to be a challenge. It's called variety.
Variety doesn't make it good, but you're right. When you strip all the challenge and danger from platforming it is just like walking and running, and neither of those are particularly fun in uncharted.
It's like the puzzles in U1. Throwing a bunch of 'wait a minute that card' tier "puzzles" at me is certainly variety, but that doesn't make them good. U2 fixed this of course, not by adding good puzzles but by basically removing them.
I was actually really surprised I hadn't seen anybody bitch about U1's puzzles before. I guess having to press a button to bring up the card is step above Infinite.

I liked 2 thing about uncharted 2, and that was the banter and the one section where you have a shootout while hanging off a street post with lots of signs on it. The game removes Sully and Flynn for the majority of the game pretty quickly so the 2 best characters for banter are gone, and the sign part was about 2 minutes long.
>>
>>333242095
>No UnKarted

I just don't get when people say the gameplay was "mediocre". Nate moves around easily because he can run and gun, shoot and climb, shoot and melee, roll around and take cover and none of it feels stiff. I would compare it to a GTA game like 4 and where Nico controls like a tank while Nate can move around easily. Kinda like Cole without the superpowers.

As for the building section i mainly died because i kept getting whacked by the furniture and die in one hit. Once i realized i had to move around and avoid them i had an easier time. Point is there was real danger and you could still play the game while everything was happening.
>Variety doesn't make it good
I would prefer going through buildings in a bombed city than walking or running in a straight line from objective to objective. It's just better level design.
I never cared for puzzles so eh
>>
>>333261089
You are comparing Uncharted 1 with Bioshock Infinite. Uncharted 1 came out in 2007. Infinite came out three years ago. I'm not saying the puzzles in Uncharted are very challenging but fuck man, you are comparing it to one of the worst moments in Bioshock Infinite.

I'd actually agree with you about Drake in Deception. He is entirely out of character. He's dark and brooding and it doesn't make a bit of fucking sense. I'm glad they've got the 'A-team' on A Thief's End. It should go out on a bang. This will be the first Uncharted game to have story DLC as well. I'm wondering what it will be about? Will it be about Drake? Or about a relative? I find the idea to be interesting. I'm not scared about them pulling an EA and making half the fucking game DLC. I know that they don't just cut slices out of their games and sell 'em for fifteen bucks a pop.

I am praying that the single player DLC is Sully recounting an adventure from the 70s at a bar, exaggerating the fuck out of everything and being unable to keep the story straight. With his narration affecting the gameplay in real-time.

Similar to Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, but instead a cowboy revenge story it would be a tale of treasure hunting in Latin America as Victor "Goddamn" Sullivan. Crazy set peices, sweet talking the ladies, smoking cigars and the sexiest man alive.

Even better if they stylise it like a 70's B-movie with silly freeze frame character intro's and cheesy music.
