What's the verdict on Twilight Princess HD?
I was thinking about getting it but I wasn't sure if the HD transition was that good.
>>
>>333232976
Get it. Its fun. Are you one of those fags who doesnt play for fun?
>>
>>333233367
Not that but I'm wondering how good it looks compared to the original version, I don't mind buying remasters so long as they look good and add new content.
>>
>>333232976
There are three other ways you can play this game
>GC
>Wii
>Dolphin
Do you want to pay $60 for a decade old game you can play for free with a decent pc or a modded wii/wii u?

>>333233367
nigga please
>>
>>333233543
It looks better than the original in my opinion. The gamepad is a much welcome option for playing the game. The new dungeon that you get for scanning the midna amiibo though is a bit of a let down. If you enjoyed TP the first time around on the Wii this HD version is probably worth oyur time and money.

I've played pretty much every Zelda game but this one for the Wii U was the first one I actually beat. I just kept wanting to come back to it.
>>
>>333233367
>it's fun
I disagree. The only fun thing about the game is the dungeons. Everything else is meh.
This is coming from someone who played it for the first time 5 years ago without doing 100% and then decided to replay it ala HD "Remaster".
>>
>>333232976
Probably not worth it if you have the gamcube version, more worth it if you only have wii version.

Of course if you didn't like it to begin with then the HD doesn't change enough to fix that.
>>
>>333234352
You disagree but then said there was fun. I dont understand.
>>
>>333232976
>720p
>30fps
>bloom
>blur
>content locked behind amiibo
Do i need to spell it for you ?
>>
>>333234884
>buzzwords
You ruined the two real complaints you had by including shit you've heard and are now parroting.
>>
>>333234614
It's not that hard to understand. Dungeons/exploring are the only fun parts in Zelda games, but TP is plagued with a lot of boring filler and shit no one cares about.
You only implied that it was just "fun". You weren't very detailed about why it was "fun", either.
>>
>>333235206
That last part was my point. I had fun. Simple as that man.
>>
pretty good, hero mdoe really makes the game fun

but there's bad input delay sometimes and epona controls like molten shit
>>
The new textures lose some of the detail of the originals and the bloom is fucked up. You probably won't notice these without having played the GC/Wii versions, but still. I'd only recommend it if you don't already have the GC/Wii versions.
>>
>>333235182
>being this much fanboy in denial
Repulsive.
>>
>>333234884
Not defending the game, but it's actually 1080p. It still has a lot of issues, though.
>>333235342
Doesn't mean that it's ALL AROUND fun. Just like mine, your opinion is subjective. Maybe you did have fun all around with it. That doesn't mean everyone else will.
Anyways, anyone interested should just rent it first.

I've put about 9 hours into it. My critical assessment:

Cons:
>they took out sword to wall collisions. A staple since ALttP.
>I loathe how the Right shoulder trigger (ZR), doubles as an A button, but only "sometimes:" For instance, you can use it to dash as wolf Link, but when you're riding on Epona it is Link's lean on command (to dodge arrows or brace for a backflip dismount). When you're using the Boomerang it becomes the multi-lock button. They didn't think it through.
>Another control issue is that when you're playing, you still have to pause to change items, unless you take the item and drag it all the way to the button icon that you want. You see, while the game is live they didn't think to make the item you needed selectable for some stupid reason.

Neutral:
>Epona is really hard to control. At first I was like "what the heck is going on, why can't I jump rails?" But today I realized that it's because they made more more like a real horse. Basically, she now has a second of input delay when you're turning. So, you have to think ahead. However she can now turn while boosting. IIRC, you couldn't turn before because the Wii version didn't have an orbital camera. So you had to just ride on. Turn. Boost. Anyways; she's grown on me, but others might not be as patient.

Pro:
>As of this moment, this is the most beautiful Zelda game money can buy.
>I like the changes they small changes they made to Ilia and Colin's eyes.
>Playing on the Gamepad is awesome and only takes a button flick. TECHNOLOGY...
>Stamps... I don't even know what the purpose of them is yet, but I like that they added something neat to collect.
>The zoom out for the camera is huge, allowing for jaw-dropping overview as you ride Epona. I completely forgot the GCN version didn't have widescreen so this is the first time this is possible.
>I feel like enemies are a lot smarter, or at least, more aggressive than before.
>>
>>333232976
Gamepad makes it great for item swapping and aiming. Not worth it though if you've played before and don't care, obviously.

Oh yeah, some more peeves.
>when you fight King Bulbos on the bridge, the controls will pop up to remind you how to move on Epona just in case you're pissing your boots with fear. This confused the heck out of me for a good three minutes because I was trying to figure out what L with a circle meant. The left-stick, duh.

>Ooccoo is still useless as ever. The least they couldn've done is modify her so that she doesn't appear at the front of the dungeon to give the game some tactical merit like Farore's Wind does in OoT. TP will forever be in OoT's shadow for this.
>>
>>333235806
I never claimed mine was absolute truth or any kind of fact. Anyone with a brain should be able to tell fun is subjective. I had fun the whole way through. Simple as that. Thats why I said it was fun. It covered exactly how I felt. And I never said everyone else would. That would be stupid. Geez man.
>>
>>333236231

>Ooccoo is still useless
>dis nigga isnt playing on hero mode
>>
>>333234884
Nigger have you looked at the original game, this has way less bloom and blur then it did, even in the spots where it looked good and they should''t have removed it. .

List of improvements is a google search away but instead of asking /v/ you should ask yourself "did I enjoy TP enough to sink cash into a refined version of it?" I got it and I'm pretty happy but some people might be happy enough just emulating and fair enough to them, I personally believe the Wii-U version has enough going for it but it's down to you man.

It looks better than the original of course, but it exposes how fucking awful the original looked in the first place.

Remember how good Wind Waker looked in HD? Have you ever seen Skyward Sword rendered in 1080p on Dolphin? Those games have good artstyles and some clever rendering solutions (Skyward Sword blends things in the distance to look like paint instead of just covering them with fog or hiding them, it looks fantastic) that make them still look good compared to brand new games today.

Twilight Princess looks like a jagged, low-poly mess, and even the newly drawn textures still look like muddy ass. They pumped up the bloom even more to cover up how bad stuff looks. The only thing that keeps it from looking as crappy as your average low-budget PS2 platformer or Zelda clone is the color pallette, which despite being very brown and muted looks great because Nintendo has very good artists under their employ.

It is a great game, but don't expect to be fond at all of the graphics. The visuals in this remake are a perfect fit for the description of "polished turd".

That is true. Because I want to appreciate the lore on my first run and read the Hylian. Also, because I don't know where the Mortal Draw howling stone is by memory.

I'm going to do a Hero Mode run after this speedrun.
>No boss containers.
>Mortal Draw only
The reason I wanted Ooccoo to be Farore's Wind is because that would make the game faster.

Also,
>dis nigga

Grow the hell up.

Lol. Shut the hell up. You clearly haven't played the HD version.

Looks better than any PS4/Xbone game right now.
>>
The game looks just as butt ugly as it did when it launched. It's not a case like WWHD where they went far out of their way to ruin the aesthetic of the game.

Nah anon. I love the fuck out of TP but that's just not true. TPHD is a complete step up from the original in terms of visuals though.

been a while since I played OOT, can you explain what you mean by this

TPHD got all the improvements. TWWHD just got an ugly neon filter.

In OoT,, Farore's Wind saved the room you were in from the point you entered it. You could then warp back to that room from ANY other dungeon or mini-dungeon (within the era you're in). This allowed for all sorts of speedrun tactics. For instance, the prisoner's chamber with all the Wallmasters in the Shadow Temple. You can just warp to the first door after going through them all.

In TP, Ooccoo does the same thing and better in a sense since you can use it from anywhere outside of the dungeon, but that's also where it fails. It ONLY works outside of the dungeon as you might have gathered. In OoT there was no reason to warp you to the entrance since you could just warp out of all dungeons except Ganon's Castle.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add. Ooccoo disengages the warppoint when you re-enter the dungeon and step forth any deeper inside. That's why you can't even use it as a quick return to entrance point, because you will lose your spot.

90% of the time the bloom is reduced.
The "bright" areas are brighter, but there is less bloom and blur in general, and things don't "glow" as much as they used to.
>>
>>333238660
I was just going off of one area, I can't remember which one, but the bloom was so high on it that I literally couldn't see and I knew in the original game it wasn't that bad. May have been one of the ponds with the light spirits.
