I never heard of this game before until now but judging from the game title and picture, which I am assuming is from the game, Darkest Dungeon is a blatant Dark Souls rip off in every possible way conceivable.

it's fun at first, but ultimately shallow and unrewarding. there isn't very much content, so they drag it out by repeating the same bosses and levels over multiple difficulties, and the strategic options are so limited that they get boring quickly. there are also terrible design decisions liked forced level-ups which often force you to grind low level characters over and over again in order to get the proper party compositions at the right levels. it wouldn't be nearly as popular without its art style and overall aesthetic, which is quite good, but isn't enough to carry the game.

Extremely fucking repetitive. I was already getting tired of running exactly the same dungeons with exactly the same obstacles and exactly the same enemy encounters, the only thing I had to look forward to was boss encounters and I completely lost interest when I realized THEY LITERALLY RECYCLED THE SAME BOSSES 3 TIMES.
Whatever little content I still had to glimpse from this game was such a distant light at the end of the grind and monotony tunnel it just wasn't worth it to me anymore.

Pretty fun game, I just wish I hadn't blown my load over it during early access so I could have had the experience of slowly learning over save after save of getting my shit pushed in with the full game so I could have had a triumphant climax of beating the game decisively instead of the slow boring finish of just not having anything more to work for besides seeing the numbers go up.

Pretty good RPG/Roguelite/Dungeon Crawler/XCOM like thing. Fun and interesting at the start, wears thing the more and more you play it. They start repeating bosses and the grind becomes almost unbearable if you're not into grinding.

Also Plague Doctor is the best ______girl.

this recent trend of indie devs forgoing any sort of skill-based mechanics and replacing them with RNG is so fucking grating, I hope it goes away soon but it won't, just look at how highly praised shit like this and the binding of isaac is

Strongly disagree. FTL's main problem was that the rate of its unlocks allowed players to attribute their progress to the equipment they had access to instead of them learning the systems of the game, which leads to bad judgement and encourages developing ruts.
