It is turn-based. Unlike χ[chi], you take an active role during combat.
Every Keyblade you have acts as a separate deck, in which you slot five Medals. The different slots can get buffs when you upgrade the Keyblade.
In combat, Medals have three attack types: tap (single target), swipe (all targets), and pulling the Medal from the corner (special ability).
There are three attributes to your Medals (Power, Speed, Magic), and each enemy also has one of those attributes. So there's a rock-paper-scissors strength/weakness mechanic.
Overall it plays great and there's a considerable amount of challenge involved compared to its browser counterpart.

The way Square Enix has been doing things, it seems they want 6 months from release date for most of their big games.

You get tons of Jewels from the daily logins, daily Jewel quests, maintenance rewards, every five story quests, and first-time clears on event quests.
It's not hard at all to get good Medals. The only way you could not get better is if you simply DON'T spend those Jewels that are being handed to you like candy.
I've been at a consistent 70+% Medal collection since the game launched, it isn't hard at all.

I don't think that's even remotely accurate. It's a very Kingdom Hearts story, in fact maybe more so than ever before.
There's a lot of mystery, a lot of doubt, a lot of wide-reaching implications and possibilities. Every little revelation totally changes everything.
Player exists as amostlysilent protagonist so that the player can be a part of the story. The game's nature as a pseudo-MMO means that it's your story, but also the story of everyone else playing the game. So Player has to be designed to encompass that idea.
I'm not sure how Back Cover, 0.2 or III will tackle Player, especially given his/her role in the story and relationship with Ephemera.
