Let's talk about the GBA.
Favorite games, hidden gems whatever.
Pic related, one of my favorite Kirby games
kirby is garbage with no substance. only adventure was decent and just because of all the powerups on nes. terrible franchise.
Sonic Advance trilogy will forever be the best Sonic games that aren't Genesis trilogy.
And Battle is great.
GBA>DS & 3DS

is this you?

Sugar a best
>>333205762
Does it play like punch out?

weebshit
/v/ has such shit taste in games
>>333206196
trying too hard to fit in m8
its okay to like things
>>333206113
Yes but with a lot more you can do and multiple playable characters. It's not like punch out in the sense that it all about finding the pattern and when to hit them though, it's more free form.
excellent game, multiplayer is great too. Too bad all the other Ippo games are dogshit.
>>333205912
Never seen this before, looks interesting
>>333206196
>weebshit
Yeah

>Pratty + Sugar playthrough

> He has fun with shitty games
better to be a man dissatisfied than a pig satisfied.
>>333206597
My first exposure to the purest love
kirby honestly has more interesting movement tech (even with just vanilla kirby) than 99% of 2d platformers. it doesn't matter that they're easy, literally nobody plays kirby for the challenge, stop strawmanning and go jack off with your counter strike butt buddies.
>>333204930
Amazing mirror was fucking awesome and had some of the coolest bgs in a gba game
>>333204930
Just started playing Zero Mission and holy FUCK this shit is AMAZING
>>333206929
The games are so easy that the level design is non-existent as is enemy placement etc.
People like it because they are casual idiots who don't know the difference.
>counter strike is most "hardcore" game culture I know
hello underage
>>333207514
>suggesting that someone who uses CS as a frame of reference is underage
og CS came out in 1999 fampai, it's not some sort of new game
>>333204930
I can't put FFTA down even if I wish I could maim the devs who implemented the law system once in a while.
Aside from that, Metroid Fusion (I still stand by it even retrospectively, this is what an "alternative" metroid should be) and Jesus Christ why even own a GBA if you don't play Aria of Sorrow.
Boktai is hardly a hidden gem but it's easy to miss and definitely up here with the best GBA game.
>>333207514
>People like it because they are casual idiots who don't know the difference.
Imagine being this delusional.
>>333205428
GBA=DS>3DS
>>333207231
That's definitely on my list, I need to get into the metroid series in general.
>>333207514
They're definitely not challenging. But sometimes I wanna play something tough and be challenged, sometimes I wanna play something more laid back.
>>333207997
>Metroid Fusion
Quite good, has one of the best antagonists because lots of clever stuff is done with the X virus. My big issues were that Adam's constant interruptions tended to completely destroy the flow of the game, and I was absolutely livid when I realized that I'd been locked into the endgame and could no longer backtrack to do the exploration I had been wanting to do the entire game.
>>333207514
>the level design is non-existent as is enemy placement etc.
So you've played like two Kirby games for a couple of levels
Even from the top of my head, Kirby 64 and fucking Kirby's Dreamland for the original Game Boy have both thought-out level design and enemy placement.
>>333208193
I would say to either start with Super or skip it entirely, since Fusion and Zero Mission control some incredibly cleanly by comparison. It's a huge shame we don't have at least one more game like the GBA Metroids, I would like to see Nintendo do one last polish-push on Samus' movement.
The Shaman King: Master of Spirits games are pretty solid Castlevania-lites.
>>333208418
>Kirby 64
Kirby 64 is, in some ways, the most "hold-right-to-win" game of the series. This isn't really helped by the fact that Kirby moves painfully slow, especially when the camera pulls back.
>>333208383
Adam's kinda wordy but I like to think it set the pace, even if that pace isn't what Metroid fans wanted and expected.
It's less of a solitary exploration and more of a "we're so deep in shit I got a little piece in my mouth" vibe.
I don't think the SA-X could have had that kind of presence and effect on the player with a regular, faster pace. Amongst other things.
>I was absolutely livid when I realized that I'd been locked into the endgame and could no longer backtrack to do the exploration I had been wanting to do the entire game.
That was my first experience with Super Metroid.
Fuck Tourian.
>>333204930
This shit right here was the fucking best. Man, why were both pf the Megaman series on GBA (Z & BN) top tier while the ones on DS (ZX & SF) so mediocre?
And who could forget this genre revolutionizing classic
>>333208649
If by win you mean reach the end with 40% completion rate and never see the last boss and actual end of the game, then sure.
It's like those people complaining you can finish New Vegas / Skyrim under 1 hour.
>>333208979
>fighting game on GBA
>good
I love this sub
>>333209569
isn't a fighting game tho
>>333205354
The Advance trilogy is the most underrated and overlooked set of games in any series, ever.
It's not for everyone but i think it's really underrated.
It's a shame it was never released, but there was no way Nintendo could make it as family friendly as Earthbound was.
10/10 soundtrack and a pretty fun game, even though I remember jack shit about the story beyond the fact the "legendary sword" was just a normal, rusted up old blade because it's the actions its wielder did that made it legendary, the sword itself was nothing special, andyour waifu turns into a tree at the end.

Advace Wars 2 is a perfect game
does anyone disagree with this?
>>333205327
>>333209809
muh nigga
I loved Riviera. Played it at least seven times.I had a real hard time not romancing the blue haired chick
>>333209604
>DBZ game
>not a fighting game
t.Lying Cunt
>>333209482
Well, it's not really like going for 100% completion is any better, is it? There are so many potential combinations, and there's never really any sort of rhyme or reason to the combination that you'll need for a given level, that you're more-or-less forced to replay every single level on your first playthrough, a poor design choice that's further hampered by the fact that some power barriers require combinations that aren't even present in the level up to that point (so you have to look in another level for that combination). And, like I said, the game's slow as fuck, so being forced to go through levels a second time, once again, holding right, isn't much better. There's barely even any difference in combat, since, when you fight the occasional miniboss it almost always consists of mashing the attack button in its face with minimal punishment, because almost all the minibosses suffer hitstun.
K64 holds a special place in my heart, and it is, in some ways, an aggressively original game, but its problems are severe.
>>333205354
I know this is a wabk thread but even wjth that in mind this is bs. The camera is so close its impossible to do any platforming when you cant see shit. Its also ugly as all hell, just a pixxelated clusterfuck. I have no nostalgia for the series, just tried it out after hearing high praise from around here.
>>333210001
Overhyped trash. Only the first game is good.
>>333204930
only fun with the GBA link cable
you DO know that this was a MULTIPLAYER kirby game, RIGHT?
>>333205354
Battle's got some fun and unique mechanics, but actually playing the campaign is terrible. Every fight is more-or-less the same.
>>333210257
Its ab RPG with fighting gayme elements
>>333210349
>he doesn't have .15 second reaction times
I can't remember the last time I heard the game over jingle. Get the fuck out of my face you worthless casual.
>>333210592
Prove it, fag
No real hidden gems, but here's what I have for my GBA, how'd I do?
>castlevania circle of the moon
>castlevania double pack
>f-zero maximum velocity
>final fantasy 1 & 2 dawn of souls
>final fantasy 4
>final fantasy 5
>final fantasy 6
>final fantasy tactics advance
>golden sun
>golden sun the lost age
>kirby & the amazing mirror
>kirby nightmare in dream land
>the legend of zelda a link to the past/four swords
>mario & luigi superstar saga
>mario vs donkey kong
>mega man & bass
>metal slug advance
>metroid fusion
>metroid zero mission
>pokemon ruby sapphire
>pokemon emerald
>pokemon fire red leaf green
>sonic advance
>sonic advance 3
>super mario advance
>super mario advance 2 super mario world
>super mario advance 4 super mario bros 3
>sword of mana
>wario land 4
Is that Zone of the Enders game any good?
Boktai 2 is still one of my favorite games of all time.
>>333206885
this game was the tightest shit.
>grate combat system
>fun crafting system
>nice story
>dungeon crawling
>selection of companions
and apparently a yuri route that i never got to experience because i went the bros route.
how is the second game by they way i remember starting it like 3 times but never advancing to much, also how much of the series is available in english?
Why the fuck didn't they just port the GBA FE games to the 3DS?
>>333211214
they ported one of themfor ambassadors
>>333209107
I dunno, SA-X and the cutscenes containing it set the game's somewhat more deliberate pace just fine by themselves. I didn't need Adam explaining to me in great detail why I was going where I was going.
>>333211304
Yeah but that was only temporarily, and not to diss FE8 or anything as I liked Sacred Stones but I liked FE7 more.
>>333211304
>hi nintendo, I'd like to give you money for a product you've already given out for free
>what do you mean no?
Sigma Star Saga
>>333210770
shut up u fat knob
>>333210846
Looks pretty solid mang
>>333211670
>>333211560
you can buy FE7on WiiU virtual console
>>333210089
i remember that when i played this game the game didn't explain shit about mechanics and i got stuck in the shittiest class on the game
also playing as the grill has a different story i think?
>>333207231
yeah, zero mission is a nice remake of M1
because i remember playing M1 back in 88 with zero maps and having to make my own with graph paper and my friend. i REALLY wish we kept it, because it was like some 25-30 sheets of paper taped together.
i don't miss shit like that, but it was an experience i kinda wish i could see kids try and endure today not using youtube or gamefaqs (if they even KNOW about that site, who goes there anymore?).
>>333213048
gamefaqs is still my default place for "I'm stuck how to proceed" information, as well as "how to plan my shit for this RPG"
>>333210846
thats about my list, but add:
>super robot taisen 1 and 2
>fire emblem
>mega man battle network 1-4
>shining force
>max payne (get this!)
>pinball of the dead
no on that zoe game, its a pretty shit version of an SRW game
>>333204930
Shit I loved Amazing Mirror
my sisters and I co-oped the shit out of this game
>>333212127
this is fucking stupid
you want to make the N3DS stand out even MORE? add GBA and DS to the SNES game list, might as well since the other 2 are portable systems
The perfect hidden gem by definition. Normies never gave it the praise it deserved. And it is not about weebshit nor anything. It is an excellent 2D beat them up.
Metroid: Zero Mission a best
>>333212797
Yep, the girl and boy have different stories that branches back together at key points. It's the same story from a different point of you, you basically get to see what happened whenever the two were separated.
>>333213495
>>333213495
lol this is such a meme game. It got great reviews and everyone who knows anything about the gba knows about it. It's not even ninja five-o tier "gem" and even that is a meme gem.
>>333214107
But it isn't as popular as it could have been.
>>333213495
>hiddem gem
>Treasure/Sega
nah
Amazing game, not hidden gem
>>333204930
I wish they did another kirby in the "metroidvania" style. Really added depth and replayability.
>>333210405
This game was shit, but i loved the music.
>>333205327
Nigga it's a platformer. What substance are you looking for? It does what it sets out to do and it does it well.
Did anyone else fucking love the Sims GBA games?
Bustin' Out and The Urbz were fucking great.
>>333213852
they definitely stole that from Kartia: The World of Fate.
>>333213048
I think there's a place for those kinds of experiences, but I'm not entirely sure that action games are that place (and I also think that games that want you to draw a map should include that functionality in the game itself, like the EO games do).
>>333211104
I've only played the second and I love it. You can basically have a yuri harem by the end of it. I need to go back and play the first
>>333210357
Oh please, go get your hipster cred on starman.net or some shit.
>>333210357
Mother is the only one I haven't played.
Not that I don't want to, I just can't it.
>>333204930
I really had fun exploring the world and playing with AI Kirby, even if they were retarded.
Is there any other game like that?
Mother 3
Astro boy omega factor
Castlevania aria of sorrow
Best three games on the system, try to prove me wrong.
ninja five - O is a fun sidescroller with a great grappling hook mechanic
sonic battle is a pretty fun fighting game with tough battles and a decent (for sonic) story
sigma star saga is a pretty cool shmup/rpg hybrid with waifus
river city ransom EX is a fantastic beat em up with a lot more features and polish than the original nes game (no multiplayer though)
>>333216187
that art looks SO FUCKING AMANO
looks just like fucking terra!
>>333218654
yeah it's the same dude who did the art for final fantasy if that's who you mean.
>>333210349
>pixxelated clusterfuck
I can tell you never had a GBA and you just emulate it on screens 5000x the size & resolution. GBA games look great on native res.
