make what is it 4-5 block space between it and what you dont want it to infect.
or use powder to get rid of it (if console has the powder)

Too late, nearly all of the world is already either Hallow or Crimson. And I doubt I could sit through purifying 7% of the world.l with powder.

id suggest making a world that doesnt enter hard mode and store all your loot there
make another world that does go hardmode, make basic hotel for all npcs and dont be too concerned with hallow/corrupt/crimson
maybe eventually make a world that has everything but that takes alot of time to setup.
