Sins is a great game if you like space and strategy, but its not a 4x game

What are some space 4X's that are easier to get into? Already tried Master of Orion 2 but didn't like the UI.

it's a mix between not 4X and 4X gameplay.
you can't go full diplomacy in it, thats the problem. also there is a lack of non military options.

Most 4x games have a lot of mechanics to learn, even mainstream ones like Civ 5. You shouldn't try looking for some easy beginner game, just play through a game's tutorials and then play through the game on an easy difficulty. Here's a couple of space 4x games you'll see mentioned about a million times.
Endless Space
Sword of the Stars 1
Galactic Civilizations 2
Alpha Centauri (You probably won't like the UI though, but it plays a bit like Civ)
Distant Worlds (Okay, this is actually hard to learn, but you can have the AI automate everything you don't want to handle)
Pick whatever looks the most interesting.

It feels so sterile after a few hours though. That tech tree is pretty mediocre. And the fleet size restriction is annoying.
I do like the card/skills though though, it's kinda cool.
