The reason is because they're paper thin, and they're paper thin because the driver has control over the movement and the main firepower of the tank.

Driver and main gunner requiring separate players would halve the amount of MBTs on the field, which would allow the developers to buff them to act like fucking tanks. Also the coordination required from the driver and the gunner would make it significantly harder to utilize.

I just don't understand why they don't do it. There's still the Lightning if you want to be a single man tank.

You can, but it takes a bit of grinding. Certs are free, they pour in with XP you gain from kills and base caps and shit. The more you know what you're doing, the faster it'll be.

There's also TONS of free promotional codes you can find online that will give you 2x XP boosts for an hour or a day or some shit. Every now and then you've got special 2x XP weekends or days, and when you activate those babies on that kind of day, during an alert (which adds 35% extra XP), you can pretty much cert everything in your niche of preference.

And no, there is no goal. In PS1, the ultimate goal was to lock people into their sanctuary. They legit couldn't play the game. PS1 simply had good game design. I mean, even the concept of taking over bases was better. Specific bases actually had things you wanted. For example, one type of base gave your vehicles SHIELDS. Now that's something worth fighting for. You talk about your dumb immersion, but PS1 even did that better. There was nothing better than driving your prowler with two other people in Teamspeak. Someone actually had to fire the gun for you.

The shooting in PS1 wasn't that great, but PS2 is casual trash. There's no skill to it. It's Battlefield-tier.

You do realise that those "minor" stat alterations make for entirely different guns, right? Different types of recoil are more suited for different distances, different rates of fire are more suited for different situations, different damages and recoil combinations are better for headshotting and worse for bodyshotting, some guns do amazing damage but have small magazines and some guns do average damage but can last forever in a firefight.

Too much for me, i was even in the position where i was good enough to be able to afford a plane after having just used one usually.

But the dynamic just isn't the same, people are different, playerbase is generic FPSkiddies these days rather than the ex-army / armchair infantrymen that used to populate the old game.

Plus i hate P2W (and even P2NotGrind) F2P games so it was really just the worst of all worlds rolled into one.

Up until that happened, I always used to nail him with bugs and exploits to piss him off, so fucking satisfying.

Magrider is pretty much the worst tank in direct engagements with other tanks though as long as the other tanker can aim. My Vanguard runs with AP, maximum ammo, maximum reload speed and the enforcer with the same, racer, and maximum vehicle stealth. The crabs sitting there trying to farm infantry don't even know I am there until we open fire into the rear armor point blank.

Always run with the same dedicated gunner too- there are maybe 2 VS tankers I can think of that ever give us any trouble in one on one fights.

This argument is both untrue and dumb. I doubt a lot of people bought a computer just for PS2. In fact, hardly anyone plays it at all. By the way, you could just play on your other characters in PS1, you know? PS1 wasn't about grinding. You just got cert points and did whatever you wanted to do. And not only that, but you could reset them. But 1000 certs for a shotgun is really fun I'm sure.

Use HEAT- HE doesn't provide that much of a real blast radius increase, and will make every other tank in the game fuck your ass. If you are gud, you can farm with AP, but you gotta be really gud. Secondary, if you are completely AI no shits given and have a pretty good gunner, get a Kobalt with thermals for your secondary. If you want to do annoying AI from huge range, the Gatekeeper is actually pretty decent at everything. Stay away from the Marauder, it is a shittier Fury.

Take either side armor or infantry radar if you are farming foot mans, depending on the range you plan to do it, side armor for medium-long, radar for close in. Use the Rival chassis to let you turn more quickly so you can move your rear armor plate out of line of sight from infantry launchers more easily, and be prepared for people to rage-bail out of ESF's with light assaults equipped with C4 if you get farmy enough.

Just remember, any anti-infantry set up is going to get fucking wrekt by any AP tank.

I need to go to sleep, so I can't continue with John Smedley. I hope you guys can keep up the good fight and keep this game in the trash where it belongs.

This man claims that it was entitled children who gave the game a bad rap that caused the game to die, but even its most dedicated players left the game due to awful decisions and plain ol' not listening to the community. God, it took fucking forever for even the most basic of outfit commands people have been asking for. On release, and I mean official not in beta anymore release, there were only two continents to play on and the game crashed and ran like shit. It took them years to iron this out. It turns out that if you release a game that runs and plays like garbage, people might start having negative opinions of it.

The future only looked bright for PS2 in the beginning, but poor management and design is what truly killed it. John Smedley started cutting people at one point which even led to Higby quitting the team. Even internally it was all a mess. Combine all this together and you have a sub-par game that's been bleeding population since the start. It's unfortunate. I was really hyped for the game as a PS1 veteran.

Maybe the game will be saved now that John is gone? Adding in ANTs and generators that slowly lose power is a good step. It adds more depth to base siege with a war of attrition and resupply.

99% of using anti-infantry with a vehicle is two things:

1. Knowing when to pull it
2. Staying the FUCK away from enemy vehicles other than Harassers

Find yourself good spots where you're safe from enemy tanks, or where you're hidden/unseen, close enough to infantry that you can lay waste to clusters of them, far away enough so that light assaults and AV faggots don't have a shot at you... THEN you'll have a great time. If you don't find the right spots at the right time, it'll be awful.

I dont think I've had more fun or pulled off more crazy shit in any other FPS game in the last 20 years than in Planetside 2.

Flying between trees in a mosquito while being chased by 5 enemies. Ambushing squads and setting traps in the road. Staring in awe at the 20 galaxy drop and 40 tank convoys. Watching hundreds of guns firing into the air with traces in all directions in the night. Being able to constantly do cool things like have an intense dog fight, jump out of the sky with your jetpack, land on an enemy tank and destroy then gun down enemy soldiers while escaping. So many amazing and great moments.
