The only online multiplayer I've played in recent times has been Rocket League and I even see it there. What's weird is nobody ever trash talks their opponent, only their teammate and only if their teammate has a lower score than them.
It's literally the only communication I see in that game, my teammate bitching at me or teammates whining about each other on the other team. I wouldn't even mind if it was constructive bitching like "why didn't you cross?" "Why didn't you stay on the line, I had it", it's always just vapid one liners and memes like "2v1" "l2play" "why are you so bad". Ignoring the fact that it's ranked as well so they're always the same level as the player they're crying about.
Maybe it's just a bad community or this is what has happened after 360 people moved to PS4 but I never remember multiplayer games being this shitty a few years ago.
