I've realised that WoW is just a dated game that isn't fun anymore. But I keep going back to it because I can't find any other games that have an online experience with quality character progression and world/story immersion.

vanilla's a much different kind of game, but i love it
also class balance and spells in vanilla was garbage even if the game was fun as shit, class balance and spells didn't really get nailed until bc, maybe even early wrath
if you want a rewarding challenge in vanilla, try leveling a warrior, it starts off more difficult than most other classes but by the end you're a walking god that fears nothing (except people that vastly outgear you and running out of faps)

I can't enjoy WoW very much anymore. I've tried every single class in the game at one point or another and it just never works. The core of the combat system is too basic and the skill cap too low.
I've already explored the world and had max level characters. There is no adventure in the game anymore. Every time I play it's just a chore to catchup to the current raid and once you get there and do it once or twice it becomes boring again.
WoW is a fundamentally broken game and was only meant to last a few years at best.
Maybe there are just too many good single player games that I've missed out on from only playing stuff like WoW or other long-lived online franchises. The only games I've ever really played are games I've spent thousands of hours on. WoW, The Elder Scrolls, Warcraft, Dota, Counter Strike, etc.
The thing with online MMO's and RPG's is that they allow for infinite growth of your skills and character, or at least some of them do. That's where WoW keeps reeling me back in. The ability to log on every day, grow your character some more, and show your new gear or mount that's really hard to get off to the world.
Unfortunately anything rare or cool in video games these days is just a fucking real life money shop item.

Is the PVP at least decent? I actually quite enjoyed PVP during MoP, even though it had some of the most hilariously broken shit throughout it, but PVP in WoD was just fucking boring after they trimmed out loads of abilities.

As long as Legion isn't a 2-patch expansion I'm honestly looking forward to it.
I still play with friends and have just as much as I did as far back as TBC. It's painfully obvious that most people who shit talk the game and say it was better back then are only doing so because they have no one left to play with.
