I wouldn't get a 4x game normally, but who else is /gettingstellaris/ here?
what's special about it

I personally am pretty excited for Stellaris, I've always been a big fan of RTS/Grand Strategy/4X games and this seems like a nice blend of them. I loved playing Sins of a Solar Empire and other Paradox games. This seems to be a decent trade off of combat for better diplomacy.

The company that makes it (Paradox Interactive) is known to make quality games and add different focus than the main genre. For example: take a look at CK2 and the dynastic focus

Same. I personally enjoyed EU4 alot even with the shit load of dlcs

I feel the same about CKII, great game but the DLC gets a bit put of hand. From what they shown in their streams so far, there seems to be a nice amount of content right off the bat
be sure to buy the 'diversity portraits' day one dlc, good paradoxgoy

>Stellaris is a space map-painter rather than glorious RPG sandbox kwisatz haderach simulator
reeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i'm pretty sure you can make a xenophobic fascist space empire and gas all the psyclons if you want to

Sounds pretty solid since they have a "purge" and "relocation" options. What's better then rounding up all non-fungi onto a barren planet then purging them?
