Honestly it would have been fine if they had waited maybe 7-8 years between generations 2 and 3 and saved up their best designs so they could introduce maybe 50-75 GOOD pokemon with each generation since. I feel that generation 3 was just mediocre but generation 4 was where the real cancer began: 107 new pokemon (14 of them legends) and all of the designs COMPLETE GARBAGE. It has stayed just as bad since and they are clearly just creatively bankrupt at this point. It has become the most obvious cash cow franchise in existence.
