Is it me, or consoles getting shittier and shittier as time goes on? I've owned a PS2 for 10+ years and haven't had a single problem with it, save for some disc read errors. Every time I turn on a PS3/4, I have to download some bullshit update for an hour, deal with game crashes, make sure it doesn't overheat, and generally keeping from getting absolutely bricked.

As things become more complex, they are more likely to fail.
Commodore 64s will still be working when all modern computer hardware is long dead.also ps3/4 update firmware and games automatically in the middle of the night, it's obvious you don't own one

Consoles have always been shitty, they are not getting worse, you are simply getting older and wiser.

Is this a cringe thread?

Not true. PS2 is still as much of a GOAT to me as it was ten years ago.

Yeah, nah. 360/ps3 had a much better library 3 years in than the current consoles, and ps2/xbox hueg was better before that.
Fact is that devs could pump out a quality game in a year to 18 months with only 30-50 people on ps2, now it takes 150 people and 3 years to make a decent game and even then games are much shorter than they used to be. I remember when 'next gen' ps3/360 games were criticised for being "only" 12 hours long
