Why can't romhackers into balance? I remember this rom hack called Eccentric Emerald which I played solely for the physical/special split implementation, and I was very annoyed by all the unnecessary changes. For example I remember one area where a guy had like 3 level 27 Pokemon whereas everyone else had like only 1 or 2 barely level 20 Pokemon. It was bad.

I prefer to just play normally with only one rule: no grinding allowed. Grinding is boring to begin with, but it makes playing babby's first RPG feel more rewarding when you're beating NPC trainers with a >20 level advantage over you.
