Only one arguably deeper that I know of is Aurora. Whther it's as fun is another matter.
Never heard of Dwarf Fortress but ugh those LE RETRO PIXLERS graphics looks fucking awful. Is it too much to hope the actual game doesn't look anything like this shite?

I'm still unable to play Aurora.
I need to spend more time on it to learn, of course, but it seems even more complex in mechanics and gameplay than even DF.

I don't know exactly what you meant by your post, but if you think DF's graphics look like what's in the OP, they don't.
It's an extended ASCII set, which is what the visual component is in most roguelikes.

Ghosts are good for a few reasons like being immune to earthquakes and such, but they deal magical damage and because I almost exclusively play nations with astral access they never are a problem for me if I can get antimagic up.
