Honestly it was pretty good aside from how they had Eisenberg play Luthor. Seems like a lot of the poor reviewers are a result of misunderstanding the plot/themes or expecting it to be a silly marvel flick.

It honestly surprises me how dumb you people are. Lex has always hated Superman because he's jealous of him, that's it.

Luthor as a character is allowed to have more than one motivation across stories let alone mediums.

Movie lex fucking loved power, other ones have him want humans to become space gods, other ones have him covet supermans abilities and rule over earth.

hes an antagonist with room to be adapted, he doesnt always have to follow the exact same rules.

There are very legitimate complaints about this movie, and you even listed one of them being the soundtrack which actually made me laugh in the theatre at times.
The rest of what you're saying makes you like either stupid or tells me you weren't even paying attention, and this is coming from someone who has really criticized this movie himself.
>>
>>333066390
>That's a fucking lie because Luthor wants to improve humanity from the bottom of his heart.
Nope, Superman flat out confronts him on that in All-Star Superman.

If Lex really wanted to help humanity as a human instead of an alien doing thing in his place, he would've done it already.

This pierces Lex' so much that he shuts up when Superman says he could have done it, it's all jealousy.
>>
>>333067285

I'll agree they did screw with the flow, but that's another effect from the terrible, terrible editing. The dreams themselves were not pointless.
And I actually share the opinion that their Lex was trying hard to capture Ledger's magic again. I actually said that to my friend leaving the theatre before I had read popular opinion. His motivation, however, was incredibly clear if not constantly thrown at you from his own mouth.
So to reiterate: yes, there are many legitimate complaints, but he didn't really list any.

Stopped during the PS1/N64 days.

Development started becoming more costly that it was cheaper to license out the games to less talented studios.

The publishers that made their name from those licensed titles also out grew needing licensed games to support them. They created enough successful franchises to hold them over. Eventually, they moved licensed titles from their talented developer studios and assigned them to their weaker ones to create a quick and cheap game and rush it out in time.

TL;DR - The instant brand recognition was something the industry needed back then. The studios today now believe its beneath them now.

Not really. BvS failed in what A1 did right. It properly introduced the concept of a cinematic universe in a way that worked well, all the characters had their time to shine and no one overtook anyone else, the pacing was tight and flowed well (if you bring up the helicarrier bit in the middle, that had great character interactions to offset the slowed down pacing)

Yeah, really. It was a far more enjoyable movie with a better plot and writing. Its flaw is it isn't enough of a popcorn action flick with funny one liners for the kiddies to say. No Tony stark to make cute quipps, no Cap to remember that reference, no Hulk to make funny smirk face you can then edit into a porn gif etc.

It was a much better serious telling of a comic book story. If you wanted popcorn summer flick, I can see why you'd be disappointed. But I'd much rather watch this over "I AM LOKI U CANT HURT ME" "HULK SMASH" "*theaterlaugh*"

but BvS HAD funny lines. Most of the bantz between Batman and Alfred had the theater laughing, plus that bit where Batman and Superman were saying if WW was with either one of them (everyone laughed at that scene, but I thought it felt out of place (something that Marvel does as well, putting quips in the middle of life and death moments where they don't belong)).

Someone else said it best, BvS tries to be a philosophical movie with action and not an aciton movie with philosophy, which is what Nolan bats did and what made them so popular in the first place.

Having the first hour be nothing but talk and talk and talk about the nature of heroes, vgilantism, jesus imagery, and making Superman look like a piece of shit (even when he's saving people, it never really feels like it's a good thing.

>better plot and writing
AHAHAHAHA

>It was a much better serious telling of a comic book story
I dunno about that. I found myself laughing at too many unintentionally funny scenes and stupid moments to take it seriously. Pretty much all of the Lex Luthor scenes, Superman's facial expressions in a shitload of scenes, especially after the wheelchair bomb goes off. Throwing the spear in the water, just to almost drown trying to get it later, wubstep lightning Doomsday, and plenty of other shit.
>>
>>333074574
A1 easily. The pacing and editing make it much more rewatchable, for one. I'm fine with trying to do "serious" comic book movies, but BvS is not that. it tries -hard- to not be seen as a comic book movie, almost apologizing for it, yet still has the over the top elements of typical CBMs.

The reason why the Nolan Batman trilogy is always mentioned as a better example of a serious CBM is that it grounds itself as much as possible without forgetting the character it's using. And shit, even those movies still had humorous moments to try and give the audience a little repose from the "realistic" atmosphere.

The fight shouldn't last more than it lasted, it would be dull and tiresome. They build up the fight and made it right on the climax, just the right amount of fight to be an interresting fight without fillers (I punch you, you punch me x100).

That's a kryptonite spear. Batman made it to kill Supes (because he think Superman could eventually turn against humanity).

Bats regrets to use the spear after Lois Lane tells him that Supes mom's name is Martha (which also is the name of Bats mom, and we all know Bats has a weakness with everything related to his parents).

They stop fighting, and both work together to stop Luthor and save Supes mom from him. Luthor kidnapped Martha Kent to force Superman to fight against Batman, so Bats could kill him with the spear.

Then Lois drop the spear in some hole with water, i bet she did that so the spear couldn't be used against his husbando. At the moment she dropped it, she didn't knew it soon be used against Doomsday, a kryptonian monster, and a plan B from Lex to kill Superman.

She's human, but a brave woman. She didn't know they would need the spear to kill Doomsday, she did that to protect Superman. When she realised they would need the spear, she was right there and felt like she had to help. Superman shouldn't go get it, of course, he went and ALMOST died, hence why she throws the spear alway from him again when he submerges (but on surface, of course).

Since it was the only weapon, they both knew Doomsday could only die if Superman made the ultimate sacrifice to save the earth (a planet he has no job protecting), just like Jeebus did. That's why they had that last dialogue before he got the spear and dived into Doomsday.
>>
>>333066390
It was in man of steel, the threat of the kryptons is more than enough evidence for lex to not trust superman and see it as a threat to the human race. He doesn't like the idea of submitting to a god, that much is clear. Making doomsday was his next step, instead of just eliminating a God, he wanted to make one himself, effectively becoming a god himself. I don't understand how any of this can be considered unclear, the movie was pretty straightforward about motivations.

>Fucking how it is a rare alien rock.

>It's not even the rock that hurts him it's the Radiation it gives off
The radiation makes him weaker than a human, but it would take time to kill him, it might not kill him at all. Batman shaped the rock to make a spear so he could be sure of Superman death, by stabbing him.

It's not as bad as people say. But Batman sucks in the movie, he's written terribly, the dream sequences are gay, and Lex is kinda whatever.

I thought the Nolan movies were boring honestly. I didn't really think the joker was that cool or interesting, and the scarecrow and bane were really forgettable to me. I much preferred affkecks batman. I like the frank miller style batman, when he's an older man, growing increasingly violent and crazy. I thought the batman mech suit was rad. I liked eisenbergs led Luther, and I thought they brought together Gotham and metropolis together in a fluent way. The whole thing felt original and fresh to me, as opposed to the marvel movies which all felt too formulaic and boring. The exception was deadpool, and I have to admit I would like to see xmen Apocalypse after seeing the trailer.
