It's most certainly different from the very first trailer which was more grimdark and mature. Lucis and Niflheim have been at war for a long time. Lucis has the last remaining crystal, Niflheim has been conquering places and taking crystals.
Lucis wants peace, Niflheim agrees, there is to be a peace treaty signing at the capital of Lucis, Insomnia
Part of formally arranging the peace treaty is the requirement for Noctis to marry Luna- Luna is a captive of Niflheim, and has been since her country was taken by Niflheim.
Noctis and crew go on Road trip to go see Luna the day before the Peace Treaty. Whether this is just for fun or to get married and formalize the treaty to be is unclear.
Surprise! On the day of the Peace Treaty, during the signing ceremony, Niflheim attempts a full scale attack to take Insomnia while the kingdom of Lucis has its guard down. It is during this attack, and the incidents leading up to it, that Kingsglaive takes place during.
Noctis and Friends hear about this attack on the radio, drive back to the city, but find it blockaded with no way in (as they say at the start of the latest trailer), this is the start of their Journey and the game proper (before this moment you will probably be on rails and in tutorial esque mode), and they likely will not return to Insomnia until sometime later in the game to take it back.

Agnis philosophy was confirmed, on release of the first trailer, that its an original title and isn't tied to Final Fantasy. It's a similar look and feel, but it's not going to be a numbered or spin-off Final Fantasy Game. It's also not the official title. Agnis philosophy was the title for the tech trailer.

I lay awake at night, hoping it wont suck. I really like this games basic premise. I really like the setting and the environments. I hope that it'll be able to capture the feeling of an adventurous journey through a unique fantasy world.

This again. SE actually just re-using a vaporware game assets that was suppose to be out for the PS3. It's a good decision financial wise because they didn't need to right new scripts and story, and just need to remodel the assets to fit with the current gen. But yeah, XVs development is hell.
