That's the difference

Though I have to say, good RPGs feature the player taking only the occasional actual blow, with the rest being blocks and parries while running the gauge down. So it's more like a 'character strength' rather than health, and is why res items work but not in cutscenes because it's not for actual death

Actually that problem could easily be solved just by not being an autist and realizing that gameplay mechanics don't, and shouldn't, carry over to the actual story. Its the same reason why you don't see numbers flying over everyone's heads in cutscenes.

the change in CC annoyed me. I think what made his death really sad was that they just had some random mooks gun him down in the middle of nowhere and basically no one knew he died
