Thats great when a game runs fantastically by default. When the hardware struggles to push 30fps a drop to (say) 20fps isn't that impressive in the context you mean given how easily it can happen unless a game is supremely fine tuned.
A good one is in games like fallout (especially new vegas) - stand in a small room, dump all yoiur useless shit in small stacks and then throw a grenade. You can actually crash the console versions that way and the vanilla (even patched) PC version will pretty much implode as well.

All consoles have is massively reduced software overhead - when the raw performance gap is that big to something like a 390 or 970 there is no way the xbone/ps4 can make up the difference.
Its going to be interesting once DX12/vulkan become more mainstream as they equally reduce some of the software overhead that plagues the pc space. You'll see pc hardware pull considerably further ahead (even hardware of similar class to the console hardware).
Alas its quite complicated how all these things work and /v/ has little interest in the hardware itself.
The game tries so hard to look like CGI with it's gazillion post process filter and needlessly complex lighting model.
I'd rather take a crisp, full 1080p output with a simpler image pipeline and a focus on texture resolution.
