Just a daily reminder that Half-Life 3 will never happen:
>Valve is making more money than ever despite making fewer games than ever
>Making literal millions just by maintaining Steam
>Making more millions from microtransactions
>Valve is not a publicly traded company, meaning no pressure from shareholders due to lack of HL3 updates
>No real way to protest Valve because they do not have to answer to shareholders, and they have a virtual monopoly in the digital market
>Most HL fans are nearing 30, the majority of Steam are 20 and under meme spouters who play Dota 2, CS:GO and TF2 all day and don't give a shit about HL
>Gaben has gone on record saying that if Valve did ever make a game again (already implying hesitation with regards to Valve ever making another game), it would have to include some sort of "social" aspect. Half-Life isn't exactly known for its social aspect, it's pretty much regarded as a single player game series (its mods are a different story though, obviously)
>Marc Laidlaw, writer of the Half-Life games since day one recently quit Valve, most likely because of the lack of any new development and no real end in sight to the HL limbo
Face it, Half-Life 3 will never, EVER happen. You are living in fantasy land if you think it will ever see the light of day.
Go ahead and try to prove how wrong I am.
Good,if they made it,it would be shit.
Nobody cares.
Only reddittors want it anyways. Anyone with a brain knows it wouldn't come close to living up to the hype.
HL3 is literally a meme game.
it will be made in shape or form, but it will be a last minute rush job like DNF -- just because we all know the name alone will sell even if it's the biggest blunder ever made
worst case they'll outsource in a few years if they don't want to do it themselves

People spout Half Life 3 confirmed!!!! because it's a meme to do so, not because they've actually played HL1 or 2
>Valve is making more money than ever despite making fewer games than ever
And they wouldn't want to make more why?
>Making literal millions just by maintaining Steam
You think Valves massive dev team are maintaining steam? Artists? Designers? If Valve were not working on titles, they'd have ditched half of their staff already and given the top guys pay rises.
>Most HL fans are nearing 30, the majority of Steam are 20 and under meme spouters who play Dota 2, CS:GO and TF2 all day and don't give a shit about HL
Not many would have played Half Life, sure, but Half Life 2 was popular as fuck and didn't require you to play the first one to understand.

Half Life has always had multiplayer you chimp.

Writing was likely finished ages ago, and chances are he still can still work on Valve stuff while not working at Valve itself. Plenty of devs work with other studios.
Half Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 assets have been found in the source 2 folders, its already a 100% known fact they are (or at least were) working on both games, as we've seen the evidence. The biggest evidence that Half Life 3 is still a thing is the simple fact that Valve haven't laid off any of their staff. Gabe isn't going to pay people not to work. Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Half Life 3 or some new shit is clearly being worked on.

The real question is who the fuck even cares about HL3 any more? If it was announced I'd still probably wait for it to go on sale before checking it out.

My bet is that it will be like DNF
The game will be released in like 10 years and by then no one will care, and the game itself will be shit

Honestly who gives a fuck?
HL2 is probably the most overrated game of all time and isn't even as good as some similar first person shooters released around the same time. (FEAR, Far Cry)
The only reason people praise it is because of the story and the physics gimmicks. Other than that it was worse in every other regard when compared to the original. Worse weapon selection, poor enemy variation, and a linear map design. You can bet your ass HL3 will be even more streamlined and story based than the first two and will be over hyped to hell and back for no good reason.
