It's just knowing what skills to use at what time.
It usually just devolves into keep up spirit buffs, burst down when you see that you can end it in a few turns, always hold back when it's obvious they have a counter.
That being said I can't remember why, but Tamamo was stupidly difficult and took me 30 minutes to beat.
