At what point did you realize most AAA developers make fucking garbage games?
Developers like Bethseda, Ubisoft, Dice, EA?

EA were never really good, except for maybe their LOTR games
DICE are still capable of good things
I never played an old Bethesda game but thought FO3, 4, and Skyrim were decent
These days I'm looking forward to FFXV, Zelda, Uncharted, maybe Dark Souls 3, and Pokemon. I had hopes for The Last Guardian but don't give a fuck now

you mean large publishers and companies COULD make A LOT BETTER games but don't because the audience is a bunch of casuals that are going to give you money for shit anyway so why bother? waht a surpriz
I started playing Bethesda games with Oblivion, enjoyed Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim (for the first 20 hours or so) but Fallout 4 is the first time that I really feel like the game is completely aware it's just trying to fill up my time. There's absolutely no heart in it. If Return of Skyrim: Nordic Niggas Revenge doesn't use a new engine I'm gonna skip it.
I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a western AAA game.
Yesterday I realized that I play only jap games - Zelda, FF, Metal Gear, Dark Souls, SMT. And I never thought of myself as a weeb, haven't ever watched a single anime series except Persona 4: The Animation.
Oh, now I remember. New Vegas and Morrowind were pretty nice.

Yeah about this time. Baldur's Gate and Morrowind are a couple of my favourite games and seeing Mass Effect and Oblivion was probably the turning point for me, also Modern Warfare made me realise that FPS had gone to shit.

Indie games and AAA games have become so stale recently. You are either getting half a game dumbed down for some first time video game player or a 4 hour 'Remember this game?' game which does nothing better than the game it's referencing.

me too, don't consider myself a weeb because i don't like anime or jrpgs but i basically only play jap games. souls, vanillaware stuff, platinum stuff, monster hunter, nintendo stuff. i do play some western indie platformers and have enjoyed the recent isometric rpgs, so i guess there's that.

I can't say there was a single moment or game. I just enjoyed them less and less over time. I'm still willing to buy them if they look interesting, but it's been a while.
