Hey /v/. I just heard about the paper Mario games and I want to play them. What order should I play them in?

Sticker Star first, and then don't bother with the rest. MAYBE play Super Paper Mario if you want.
Color Splash is coming out soon and that looks amazing so buy that too.

Don't bother with Paper Mario or Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door, they decided to change up what has been established for a while now, what with having muh oc partners, and deviantart tier character npcs, you're better off playing sticker star which is without a doubt the best in the series, it doesn't try to throw some bullshit plot at you that you won't care about, instead sticker star treats you like an actual human being who knows they prefer nice and simple, meaning just having peach be kidnapped and mario has to go save her, which is what Paper Mario 64 and TTYD should of done instead of making some poor attempt at an interesting story, which they utter fail at by the way.
Sticker Star is absolutely the first game you should go to. The rest are middling to shit by comparison.

General consensus of best to worst would be;
TTYD > PM >>> SPM >>>>>>>>>> SS
If you want to go from best to worst, go in that order. If you want to go from worst to best, go in the reverse order. If want to skip bad games, skip SS. SPM was still fun and worth trying.

Thanks. I heard emulation on phones for n64 is pretty good but idk if I can emulate the first paper Mario on my iPhone. I could at least get a feel of what these games are like before I get the 3ds game. But I might just get it on a whim.

The original and TTYD get by on nostalgia alone, there are literally no other redeeming qualities to them. I'm worried that if you see how shit the first game was you'll be discouraged from seeing the beauty that is Sticker Star.

Play the first, then TTYD, then SPM, I don't think it really matters what order you play them in, although from experience, I can't get into the original at all since I started with TTYD.
Also don't bother with SS or CS when it comes out, they're trash.

I think it's a defense mechanism due to Color Splash forcing everyone to admit that Paper Mario is 100% dead, for good.
