Is this game any good? I just heard about it now
The combat is mediocre, but the atmosphere and storytelling are top tier.
Now leave this thread before you get spoiled.
Combat in American Nightmare is a little better, but it's really not worth playing.

Was intended to be so much more.
Beside that, it has great atmosphere and enjoyable storytelling for like half or 2/3rds of the game.
It's enjoyable. Should be cheap as shit now, too.
>>333000417
shit. just like quantum break
>>333000590
your tastes are shit
you must also think dark souls and bloodborne are good games too, right?
fucking cancerous meme
>>333000417
It's worth $5-10, more than anything it's interesting.
Some of it is kind of too obvious; eg. 4th wall breaking, rampant steven king references, 2spooky4u story.
The best parts are when it isn't trying to be a video game.
It's really good. Story is pretty good, enviroment is nice too.
It's meant to be trilogy, but with each passing day I lose a bit of hope for that ever to happen. Shame realy, fuck off Microsoft, Quantum Break is going to tank anyway

>yfw Quantum Break is tied to Alan Wake
>>333002524
>calls liking AW a meme
>implying disliking DS/BB isn't a meme itself
What happens when a meme calls a meme a meme using a meme?

This guys pretty much said it. Combat is fairly typical for a game of it's generation, bit frustrating at times, but the storytelling and general style is pretty top tier. Appreciation if it can vary thought depending if you're familiar with it's influences and whether you like them or not. Still worth a play. American Nightmare is way way harder sell.

Play it before Rockstar makes an unnecessary sequel and ruins it.
it a decent game, american nightmare was fucking trash though
Good story, great atmosphere, but the combat and movement controls were beyond shitty.

>>333002524

>>333002524
let me guess Nintendo?

That's awful if true, considering Quantum Break is Windows 10 App Store shit.
A lot of people get mad about Alan Wake, because they think it was originally meant to be some kind of open-world horror game in the early stages of development, before being changed to a more linear action game due to time constraints. These people still cling to the delusion that an open-world game can be good at all, but I've never seen it happen, so I don't really mind how Alan Wake turned out.
Other common complaints include:
• The repetitiveness of the combat decreases replay value
• There aren't enough types of enemies
•There aren't enough weapons
Everything else about the game is pretty great, though, and it has a very good PC port. Ultimately, though, you'll only enjoy it if you like story-driven games with some spookiness and some mystery and lots of dialogue.
Do not expect:
• The excellent third-person shooter combat seen in Max Payne
• A game which is actually scary
• Non-stop action
Do expect:
• A decent story
• A great soundtrack
• Nice graphics
• Good-enough combat and AI
Finally, the Nightmare mode is locked until you beat the game, so if you want an actual challenge without playing the whole thing twice, unlock Nightmare mode using the instructions in the attached image.
I might not be in the majority, but I think it's terrible.
Repetitive, shallow and limited gameplay, awful variety in both enemies and environments. I didn't find the story particularly interesting either, the characters were pretty forgettable (who was there other than Alan anyway?)
One of the worst endings I've seen in a game.
