the purple thing is where you start
the blue things are new skills
the orange things are skill upgrades (which you need to upgrade an existing skill and need to be at a skill level for a specific weapon type to unlock)

The green things are "increased stat bonuses when you level up" skills
which is a reason why NG+ starts you at level 1, because you can use the points from having weapon skill levels (5000 if all 5 weapons are at level 10) to beeline to those skills
