They're Hegemony, but I don't think they have the upgrades. I just consoled them in to mess around with dumb fleets, but I did't see an actual XIV variant in the listings.

Anyone know a few tricks that might let me continue the game on a toaster? I've played a previous one with exactly the same mods and with a lot less ctds but corvus multiplies the systems three-fold and it's been hell. Shit that helped so far-

Is there a way to not get raped earlygame every time? I can usually play for 2 hours until the supreme leader of Fuck You-ville announces that he was just sitting outside hyperspace waiting for my starting fleet.

Reporting in. I'd be hella interested in all-fighter combat with ground defense or orbital bombardment, whatever works.

So I've been at work making fighters for my shit mod and I'm having a lot of fun with it. The actual spritework is pretty bad but if it's only fighters it should be fine.

With how combat is, it feels more like a penalty to have firepower split between two sides of a ship with no option to turn most of the turrets forward. It seems like most capital ships that have decent damage output have 3+ large turrets that converge. I don't know if the Conquest would still look good if it was fitted with a 3rd set of medium and large weapons on each side if that happened, but I wouldn't complain if it had the flux stats to support either or both sides.

Yes, but the MG is on a turret instead of a fixed hardpoint so it has a lot more versatility. I'm not really trying to balance, just testing the waters with mods.

I've gotten dozens of hours of fun out of the combat alone, and the game has a bunch of more shit coming.

That said, if you plan on buying it now you should only do so if the combat looks appealing to you, since thats where all the meat of the game is right now. You should give a pirated version a whirl, its relatively easy to pirate.

Any ship with a flight deck, basically a carrier. You should get something like a Condor or Gemini to deploy in battle before using fighter wings.

If flight decks > 0, it can reload fighter squadrons. Not an expert, but an anon suggested earlier you use 2 squadrons per flight deck. Also, the ships can generally be identified as carriers.

Note, you don't need to have one to use fighters. But once they die, they stay dead.

On Vanilla all the ships with Flight Decks are

I like the idea of atmospheric fighter fights for taking over planets. I can't imagine some of the bigger ships doing well in an increased gravity environment. (I'd be ok with frigates.)

It's normal (at least to me) that the game takes a good hit on its FPS while modded, in comparison with vanilla. Especially in hyperspace where the map is huge and there are a ton of active fleets.

How do you guys keep a stable income once you've got a fleet up?

Every time I just slowly run out of money while resupplying on fuel and supplies. Whenever I engage whether it's against an equal or greater fleet or jumping in on a fight and only sending a couple ships I never make back the money I invested in the battles. It feels like I'm doing something wrong.

Also, i start the game with my own faction and (hard mode), which says i begin without a planet of my own.

Is it a very big problem if i start engaging every i come across, even if it is friendly? I really have a hard time finding pirates to shoot at and i need better income.

This is a pretty nifty super-carrier. I think the flight decks are going to get nerfed to 8, but still pretty decent.
