No, it's a contextual input prompt. A QTE is where you hit a button and the game plays itself. You have to actually time that input in order to successfully block, which makes it more gameplay than cinematics (more cinematics than gameplay = QTE).

That's not a QTE, that a contextual action idiot.
QTEs are literal movie with a forced win/fail based on a timer and you have to press a specific button.
That prompt isn't forced, isn't in the middle of a cinematic and you can do something else entirely to evade or attack that can work too.
If you decide to follow through you're rewarded with a short animation yes, but that's the basis of videogames dude.

We don't know who designed Aranea, Glauca, the blonde Niflheim guy with Iedolas, the Niflheim man attacking loli Luna in the flashback, the driver, Nyx and the rest of the Kingsglaive but since Ferrari confirmed he designed his characters in 2010 when the game was still Versus and Nomura is the only other character designer on XV besides him they are by either Nomura or Ferrari.

Sales happened, outside of Pokemon and Dragon Quest, the masses of people really didn't play JRPGs.
They tried innovating in a lot of ways but nothing really worked or picked up their sales.
Square Enix is now trying the same thing with JRPGs that they did 20 years ago. Appeal to a new demographic, and in hopes of creating a new market and bringing in more people to JRPGs in general and trying to evolve JRPGs in a lot of ways.
FFXV will probably sell a lot, it's got all the kickers that kids and teenagers love, open world, real time combat, and a story that's teased to make it seem like it's worth a damn.
I'm still mad about Square and Square Enix hasn't a good repuation with a lot of people, but I admire them for almost admitting defeat and not trying to win us back anymore. They're going to a new audience instead that will like their game and buy their stuff.
