DaSII has its glaring flaws but mechanically is a step above the previous (minus janky hitboxes). It's a lot more fun to play your character in II than any of the others (minus maybe BB, but that's a very different playstyle). The people who hate II focus in on every little flaw and ignore the good, and I've always felt DaS was more about its mechanics than the worlds set up. I mean both are very important but if I had to take away from one to give to the other then I'de rather a mechanically sound DaS game.
Dark Souls 3 is nothing like 2. I've played through the entirety of Dark Souls 3 and had a great time. The final boss was easily my favorite part of the entire game.

The additional items and things obtained from DaSII dlc are way better than that of DaSI. While DaSI was a better story for its DLC and I would agree Kalameet fight's great, the takeaway at the end is way less than II. II's dlc just had better overall items and I heavily prefer that to a bit more interesting bosses, as I'll actually take the items into PvP etc.
