What does /v/ think of the Arkham series?
Should have ended with asylum
City was pushing it but still mediocre to good
Everything else is shit
good but easy
each new release didn't really add much though
city/asylum are the best
Aslyum was GOAT. City was great albiet losing its focus and Knight was a step up from City yet still inferior to Asylum.
Origins doesn't count
>The Asylum is better than City meme is still going on
I don't understand. City literally did everything better besides maybe the setting but that's arguable.
>>332924654
>open world shit
Nah, it fell for the open world meme and the story lost all focus + crammed in as many baddies/sub plots as they could. Knight did literally everything better than City, including the ending. Asylums metroidvania style was perfect
>>332924654
Personally I really disliked the city itself. Being able to fly over everything from the beginning really reinforces how the "open world" is just pointless bullshit. Being filled to bursting with riddler trophies didn't help. Asylum just felt more tightly knit, and limited mobility also added to the experience when they used that to mix up areas you had to go back through like setting up ambushes and such. While City did a lot of things strictly better, it also added a ton that just felt like a complete waste of time, which detracted from the overall experience. Just my opinion.
>AA
great game, loved it, I hoped they expanded on it
>AC
they did expand on it, everything is even better
>AO
some cool bossfights, but the combat gameplay is fucked up, the map is too simmilar to AC but with a coat of snow, and the regular missions are meh
>AK
hit or miss, if you enjoy the batmobile it's yet another step up from AC, if not then you're fuckedalso I fucking loved theJoker shenanigans in it, specially the ending twist and how they pulled it off, fucking perfect
also it looked visually amazing
I can only hope we'll someday get a Batman Beyond by Rocksteady
I seem to be one of the very few who actually liked the batmobile in Knight.
It handles very well in both modes. That tunnel part and the vehicle bosses were shitty but those don't make the vehicle itself shitty.
AA > AK > AC > AO
Prove me wrong
>>332925930
>muh use batmobile now
>better than city
no
It was nice having an above average super hero game, but I don't like the combat at all in any game in this series
If knight did anything better than city is not shoehorning every villain into the main story.
>>332925857
They expaned on AA and in turn made an Ubisoft tier Batman. If you liked City more than Asylum then there's literally no reason not to like Origins/Knight over City.
Asylum felt unique and in its own, the story was self contained in a small world that still felt non linear. As for Knight, i'll never get the hate on /v/ for it (it's obvious to be fair, most of /v/ is a PCuckincluding myselfand the PC port was horrible but it's fixed now for me at least).
Knight was flat out fucking fantastic and the ending actually makes sense and seemed to go over a lot of peoples heads. The throwback to calendar man was also genius by having him appear at the end just like he said he would in Arkham Asylum.
My final ratings
AA = 10/10 A literally perfect game (name one thing wrong with it. Just one. Pacing was GOAT, story was GOAT, riddler shit didn't feel boring, atmosphere was GOAT)
AC = 8/10 still a fantastic game but it just didn't hit the right notes for me
AO = 8/10. Improves on AC in virtually everyway outside of the pretty mediocre setting (they botched Gotham in my opinion)
AK = 9/10. Improves on both AO/AC in everyway outside of boss battles (which gets more or less fixed withDLC). Story was great, twist was predictable (but so was the original Red Hood twist) and the ending at first glance seemed unsatisfying only for it to be pretty fucking excellent.
Overall, one of the most consistently good franchises in vidya and considering it's a comic book game then that's just even more impressive.

There's nothing wrong with the Batmobile. The hate is coming from salty PCfags mostly. The Batmobile was masterfully used to switch up the gameplay and add variety, Origins got shat on for being to "samey" and then Knight gets shat on for trying to reinvent the wheel. It's just classic "You can't make everyone happy" syndrome.

>name one thing wrong with it. Just one.
Shit boss fights
>>332926049
>muh Ubisoft meets Arkham Asylum
>better than Knight
At least AK had the balls to try and make Knight feel new and fresh (which it succeeded at) while improving on the core mechanics, Asylum literally did nothing but slap in a boring city and use "quantity>quality" logic based game design.
Origins is better than City in literally everyway, maybe not atmosphere, same with Knight

>(it's obvious to be fair, most of /v/ is a PCuckincluding myselfand the PC port was horrible but it's fixed now for me at least).
thing is, at its worst on release I could play it at 30 fps, I just didn't want to
what consoleturds will never get is that a shit port is worst case scenario just as bad as the console version (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions which I can't even think of now that I found out that DMC3 runs almost perfectly if you use the style switcher mod on it, even if you turn off style switching)

>shit
Standard /v/ hyperbole. Not surprised tbqh
Post your new Batman game idea
>New Batham game
>less focus on Batmobile
>Throw in the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor
>the criminal ecosystem can evolve between sessions.
>He can go for particular targets, check out bars and alleyways which are known haunts of particular gangs, influence territory grabs between rival gangs.
>If he comes down on one faction too hard, then others might become much more powerful in the power vacuum - but some gangs might invoke his ire if they're being too violent etc. (or disproportionately targeted gangs could get bigger weapons to deal with Batman, but in the process of escalation gain an advantage over their gang rivals).
>You could manipulate the criminal economy and the black market arms trade by hitting drug runs, bank robberies, gun deals - if you can get the intel on where they're going down. Each faction can be led by one of the standard rogues, and you could arrest the leader by fighting and interrogating your way through the ranks.
>There could even be breakouts at Arkham or Blackgate which you could try to foil if you had intel - but you'd have to manage your resources (i.e. Oracle's time, satellite surveillance etc.) and would always miss stuff.
>Then you could deal with the story, individual serial killers, stopping vigilantes, against that background.
>You could also have missions (scripted or not) as Matches Malone or Bruce, too - having to take the night off Batman-ing to gather intel, allay suspicions, or host a charity dinner that rogues could break into. Different gangs could have different attributes, like Joker doing something to kill the city if he got too powerful; Penguin bringing in bigger weapons; Black Mask inspiring more street violence.

Most people criticise the Batmobile sections because you kill a bunch of people every time you drive it. You plough through more people than in an average GTA chase.
>>332926653
>what consoleturds will never get is that a shit port is worst case scenario just as bad as the console version
You really couldn't play it at 30fps on release. The port was flat out broken and even the visuals were inferior (the rain drops didn't affect Batmans cowel in any way on PC). I had a 980 and had drops into the teens. When I own a £1000~ rig I expect it to be significantly better than a £300 console.
Consolefags got their laughs in as they always do. Even I got some laughs in because i'm idort and seeing butthurt Fanbases is amusing to me

Who gives a fuck, it says they don't die so they don't die. If people are that autistic then maybe they should read the first few Batham comics that had him flat out capping niggas

I'm on a 980, i7 4ghz, with 16gb RAM, and the game was installed on a SSD, I had spare power for it and memory leaks were also not a problem for me
but I'd rather wait for the 60fps version which would never come to consoles of course (or maybe on the PS4K, as Arkham Knight Remastered? lel)
Bloodborne is a game that I had no expectations to get to play it at decent frame rates and high resolution, so I played it on the blurry-ass mess that is the PS4 version
JUST CHARGE ME FOR A LICENSE TO PLAY PS GAMES ON PC SO I CAN GET RID OF THIS PAPERWEIGHT AND PLAY BB 4K@60, SONY

b-b-ut muh morality
muh no kill code
technically they'd be correct since Arkham Batsie is a whiny bitch and is really really heavily impacted if anyone dies, but the game says they're just knocked out and not killed, so they're back to being wrong
>>332926854
>Nemesis system
Why haven't they thought of this before? That feature was fucking made for Batman games
>>332924654
all it did was space the real content out with nothing interesting in between.
>>332926854
I want Batfleck with wall crawling moves.
The movie might be shit but Batfleck is fucking 10/10.
My favorite series of all time. Don't get tired of them.
City (almost perfect and vastly superior of Asylum) > (Batmobile, superior gen graphics and great additions to combat and stealth, great new playable characters; still not as polished as City, not much creative bossfights, tankfights fun but not too "Batmany") = Origins (my favorite novelty in general was martial artists, some bossfighs were great, new gadgets were shit and gameplay wise didn't played with the concept of prequel, instead, it was City 2.0) > Asylum (great music and setting, still, inferior gameplay wise) > Blackgate (is Arkham, so, is still good enough in my book, but 2D gameplay doesn't feels good in this series).
I think the series has a lot of future potential in every departament: combat, stealth, bossfights, detective work, story.
For potential sequelsGod, make it happen, i want Battle for the Cowl and then Beyond settings.
