>Can't just start the game and grind out and play a titan
What a shitty spaceship, sandbox game. If the market was trying to pay $500 every time they're interested in a tiny niche in their MMO, they could just play Entropia.. and probably get paid.

Yes the skill system is shitty, but you can do pretty much anything within a few months of reasonably focused training.

It gets better once you have the core skills, but yes skills are shit.
>>

T1 frig pvp is short as hell to train for
null/non-sleeper WH exploration sites are easy to train for
Trade and Manufacturing are all about how much you actually understand markets and a little capital to start
>>
>>332921973
For the average MMO, 3 months of training is a fucking awful idea. EVE gets no free pass just because it's a sandbx. The game design could use some serious insight.
>>
>>332922652
>3 months
You know you don't have to V all skills to do something right?
>>
>>332922652
You can train a Gankalyst alt in a day and go kill a Retriever worth 40m ISK with your 1m disposable ship.
>>
What's better?
EVE or Elite: Dangerous
>>
>>332922962
There are 20 years of skills. There's something to train that would hugely benefit their fit.
>>
>>332923775
and yet a 1 month old character can beat 500m isk+ ships with pilots that have years of skill training
>>
>>332924058
Good luck finding veterans that would actually test this theory with 1v1s. The whole of the community knows how OP SP is.

Getting some scraps from shitters is no implication that the game is very entertaining.
>>
>>332924198
I think he was probably referring to ambushing mission runners and killing their blingfit boats.
>>
>>332924058
That sounds fun, but finding fleets is like finding faction blueprints, but more rare.
>>
>>332919387
Game is unique in how much investment it requires but it's also uniquely rewarding.
>>
>>332924993
There's legitimately no reason for contrast. The game is what it is, not what other games aren't -- it has to stand as a product. Furthermore, there's no benefit to having the deepest economy and flight mechanics with the strictest gating of any game ever.
>>
>>332919951
Unless you have a huge amount of support and security, a titan is nothing but a very large and expensive coffin.

>>

Supers are what killed the game.

No one likes them.

Plus, a titan is FUCKING SHIT for anything but fleet boost and DD. I haven't played in a while, but they have trouble hitting dreads that are moving even slightly.

>as they give fresh characters more starting SP

A game should be fun. A sub game should have full content.

I just wish it was easier to just drop into a small fleet and go. But it takes so much planning and micromanaging that I have to work for 2 hours just to begin to have fun and that will probably just be a roam and we will probably find nothing anyway and just go to bed.

Yes, get someone to give you a code for a month-long trial and see if you like it. You can play completely free if you have no life and are OK with grinding 24/7 for the first month, too.

It's only shitposting as much as there is a rebuttal.

Yet, here's the no-argument coming up on why the idea of flying a Titan ASAP (within reason) is 'ludicrous'.

All the game has is making money if there are no ships. That's nothing. Gameplay is the reason games are played.

you can fly a frigate day 1, a destroyer within 2 more days, and a cruiser within 2 weeks tops.

could probably even get bc ready within a month, though affording a bc on your own within your first month of play seems unrealistic.

Guess what the meta is? Strict and established. An inability to properly outfit a ship and for it to perform well is a city without walls. The propensity for gaming negativity to be blamed on the game has basically no out here except paying more money. There's nothing to keep fresh play interesting, in a game that has the most roles and potential.

Mittens made a morale ping and dedicated his state of the goonion to encouraging goons to form for VFK.

117 goons showed (out of an 11000 man alliance, compared to ~500 from FCON) and the station was freeported. Prior to this DBRB gave an interview where he said the plan was basically to retreat to lowsec and harass with interceptor wulfpax.

The rape train has departed the station and has no brakes.
>>
>>332929089
You can gank miners within a day of training with a gankalyst.

If you wanna mission, you can fly a destroyer within a day and have no problem (unless you do SoE because Dagan is a prick)

If you wanna mine, they give you a free venture and the skills, less than a day of training.

If you wanna explore, you get a free exploration ship and skills, less than a day of training*.

If you wanna trade, figure out how to generate capital so you can start, trade skills are generally pretty quick trains as well.
*Ability to do shit with low hacking skills not guaranteed.

MMORPGs will not work with real action combat due to latency and server load so they are text and stat based.

Comparing Elite Dangerous to EvE because "muh 3D flight" is fucking retarded, they're two completely different games.
Elite Dangerous is a flight simulator in space with inertia and realistic gravitational simulation, EVE online is a fucking point-and-click MMO where there is no real fucking purpose on using anything other than the orbit feature since you can even fly through objects.
Stop fucking arguing over semantics, you retarded niggers.
>m-muh 3D f-flight!!1
It's irrelevant, it has no benefit at all, the ship automatically fires its guns and places itself in range and with the weapons already fixed on the enemy.
There is no tactical advantage on just going "up" or "down", since there is no cockpit view and pretty much everyone can see\watch\analize everything closer to them.

Fucking why, every time
>>
>>332933764
>exploration
>find a motherload of a sector with several cosmic signatures
>send out probes and cloak up
>a few minutes later you hear another ship cloak up nearby
>suddenly its a race against the clock
Exploration can be fucking intense yo
>>
>>332929089
here's what you can do within a week
>lowsec exploration with frigate
>mining
>trading
>t1 production
>research
>running lv 1 and 2 combat missions
>running courier missions
>gank miners

and that's just the solo stuff

>Become Space Salvager.
>Fly into warzones and pvp hotspots, loot wrecks, scoop up drones and salvage messes.
>Scan down mission runners and and steal their wrecks.
>Bait people into attacking me in high sec then survive just long enough for them to be BTFO'd
>Set up a junk yard and make okay dosh
>Eventually get enough money for the Noctis

I stopped playing here, there was literally no sense of progression once I got the ship I wanted. No reason to keep playing at all. As far as I'm concerned, I've beaten EvE.
>>
>>332929376
>>332929430

its pretty easy if someone tells you what you need to know.

>do the career agent missions for some starting capital
>buy an exploration frigate (i used magnate)
>buy t1 modules for it and train the skills you need to fit it (takes a day or two at most)

from there you just do data sites in lowsec. depending on your luck you can get several million isk worth of loot from a single site.
do that for a few days and you got enough money for a cruiser.

Yea, uh, game design by infographic is exactly why the video game industry is dying.

trying to please everyone just means everything is roughly the same.

I personally have a love/hate, on/off relationship with EVE because of how aggressively unique and, dare I say, visionary it is.
>>
>>332927303
It goes even further than that. It is absolutely impossible to have a fair fight in EVE. One side will always have an advantage of some sort.
>>
>>332935509
People seem to miss the whole point of "Sandbox MMO".
The game has no goal, you just carve out your fun.
And you did.
Congratulations.
>>
EVE is a gigantic foundation for a fun game without the fun game on top of it.

Every little activity in the game is meh. I blame because the combat is meh, so everything else suffers from that point.

ITT: modern casual fags treating EVE like a singleplayer game and then crying about it
>>
>>332936258
The biggest thing to do in EVE is interacting with other players.
>>
>>332934501
To men, "mature temperament" means "is not a screaming drama queen about every little thing."

To women, "mature temperament" means "goes out of their way to not offend anyone, ever."

There are those diamonds who literally are "just one of the guys," (who usually end up as god-queen-matriarchs of huge groups because the power they know they wield) but most women will get offended at something, will pitch a bitch about it, and still be surrounded by enough sycophants to think they were in the right.

>>332936082
Just like when the goons decided that they wanted to destroy the economy when they suicide attacked the main trading hub of Jita with about 14000 ships.

people were cring, but CCP said that they are free to do what they want within the game's limits.
>>
>>332935509
It does suck that the battlefield-salvager line basically ends at the noctis.

Though the noctis is one sexy motherfucker.
>>
>>332936751
Man, i miss burn jita.
But yes, that's EVE, and >>332936479 is right.
>>
>>332936825
The point is that there is really no reason to play once you have the ship you want. You can't go anywhere from there but down.
>>
>>332936751
Didn't they have some sort of complaint and that was a protest in service of that complaint?

I mean, they were basically dumping thousands of tons of liquid shit on occupied pre-schools because they were angry at God for the state of the world, but still, the fact CCP just laughed is why CCP is one of the best developers still running.
>>
>>332936548
>to men; not woman
>to women; not man
there, shortened that for you
>>
>>332936943
Then you make even bigger goals

Or just quit, I dunno.
>>
>>332936943
I can only understand that in the sense that "high-sec ninja-looter" is a very limited career-path.

Otherwise there are always bigger places to go, and bigger ships to get. Personal carriers and shit are pretty popular these days.

>>332937056

>High sec

>Not opening the galaxy map, setting it to recent battles and flying to the biggest, reddest, ping.

I tried doing that, but I dropped to 2 FPS when I selected the war zone with 1400 people in it, so I said fuck it

Scientifically objective design.
>>
>>332937529
It happens. Cloak up, wait for the battle to end then grab what you can grab before the corporate parasites manage to warp in. Its the thrill of being a Salvager. You won't win a fight- you CANT win a fight. You essentially play Metal Gear EvE
>>
>>332937781
No, on the galactic map, not in the actual system.
>>
>>332937703
There is nothing that could be said about unsubbing from such blatantly monetized restrictions that would make it seem any less of a prestigious choice.
>>
>>332937753
... you realize you posted an infographic about how to get people to care about things they HAVE NO CHOICE in doing, right? Ya know, those things called jobs?

Whereas a video game is something people have to seek out.
>>
Did they ever fix the scanning? Last time I played the shit was unusuable. Took an hour just to scan down a mission NPC

>Move ball two inches to the left
>Turn camera
>It was actually moved six million miles away from the entire galaxy map
>>
>>332937917
>if I thesaurus, I am look smart!1

If everything is the same, people get bored. Tis why all the WoW-killers failed.
>>
>>332936258
Very little is actually understood about EVE combat for 99% of the gaming market, as the whole 3D discussion proves.

The game has a perfect 3D flight implementation.

>>332937971
Oh nice, perfect evidence of never reading about it. It's the same whether for jobs or games or just living.
>>
>>332938096
Last time I did it you could control which planes on which the ball moved. So, yes?
>>
>>332938330

Yea, I'm at a loss.

But is it a fun game?

NO IT'S NOT IT'S FUCKED
>>
>>332939030
I don't know mang, I had fun with it. Especially trying out whacked out fits like permanent mwd on a cruiser with high tracking long range guns with a web and just murdering niggas while crusing around at 2kms forever.

Which is to say, yes, most (if not all) of the enjoyment from EVE comes from the meta rather than the actual actions.
>>
>>332938096
It is much easier now.
>>
As someone who fucked up early on and rolled minder, and just ran with it to Indy and exploration, what kind of stuff could I really do in EVE?

Is it possible to really play EVE without it feeling like a second job, due to mass organizing corp events and showing up?
>>
>>332939030
If it's no fun, it's solely because of SP.
>>
>space sim
>doesn't simulate gravity or space travel properly

I find it funny they wanted me to pay for this, let alone that people do.

i'll stick with Orbiter.
>>
>>332941396
The only 'problem' with gravity is that the ship stops.
>>
>change bases to 28 jumps away station with friend
>he cannot play anymore
>leave home base as old corps location for sweet orca boosts just in case

>get killed
>all my stuff is 28 jumps away

Moneys not the problem but fuck me.
>>
>>332942747
Why not just put in a shipping contract and force some other player to haul it to you, if money isn't an issue?
>>
>>332944695
its not enough stuff to bother to be honest, its just knowing its sitting out there is annoying.
>>
>>332919387
>wanting to be a bridge bitch or float around in your space coffin

Anon pls. Titans are so niche it's ridiculous and having a Titan main is a waste of time.
>>
>complain about taking too long for titans

>takes over 2 years to max mining barges

who designed this game
>>
>>332945083

Oh, they knew what they were doing. Alt accounts are big business. Most people in my old corp had 3-4 alts, some more than 10
