While I don't use the HBG often (Bow is my most used ranged weapon) it's clearly earned its place because it's constant one of the highest if not highest DPS weapons across all MH games Freedom Unite and forward. It also requires you to know the monster's weak points for optimal damage as ammo is limited so it isn't braindead either

HH is not very viable in this game due to mounting and retarded DPS with 4 people being better. It does get accolades for giving huge attack boosts though and some of it's unorthodox buffs can be good too.

So is your chart talking about multi hunts or solo or both? I was assuming solo, where the LBGs status role isn't quite as helpful.
SnS is incredibly fun and viable imo, lets you get right in the monsters face and never leave. It attacks very fast and the animations for each swipe is super short so you can roll at almost any time through tailspins or out of the monsters attack and go right back in. I wouldn't consider it jack of all trades either, it has it's own identity. I think the SnS's main weakness is that you really have to sustain a constant flow of attacks to keep it in upper B tier territory. Anything less and you're in C/D tier. Maybe it's because I've been playing SnS for so many years but I get very fast kill times even without using a bombing set as long as I'm bringing the right SnS for the monster. But it is worth considering that some of the fastest solo clears are achieved with bombing SnS sets, though they do require a ton of resources.

I consider every weapon except the hammer and gunlance in MH4U to be viable, I bopped sns down because I though the other B tiers had stuff especially for the (LS for range, lance shielding, dual sword status for melee/mobility, hunting horn buffs, S/A for sword mode). Although now that I think about it, I may need to drop LS down too or switch it with SnS.

As far as 4U goes, how often do people use HBGs dedicated to using Normal shot? I know Pierce is very popular and that Pellet is trip city, I'm just wondering if the Molten Tigrex line is worth the investment because I'm chewing through a lot of caravan points for the shit needed for Pierce Lv2.

Ah, if it's multi then the list makes more sense. Although, I think once you get to 4 hunters most of the game's content is going to be able to be beaten very quickly if they all know what they're doing regardless of weapon. I think 2 is the perfect balance, and 3 is still really fun.
Overall some weapons are undeniably better than others but luckily the difference in hunt times is only a couple of minutes in end game hunts. And if it's a 4 man hunt then it's going down in 5 minutes anyways. Except for hammer. There's some video of a guy soloing 140 shagaru magala and playing nearly perfect and it takes forever. Definitely needs a buff to compete. Gunlance is shit but I've seen a couple videos of japs making it look amazing but 99% of people will never get that good so it doesn't matter.

I also agree about online, but hey it makes grinding faster. I'm surprised there still isn't balance based on the amount of people, rather whether you are online or not. They should have a minimum set based on amount of people per quest but let you increase difficulty; i.e. if you have 3 people you can set your difficulty based on 3 people or 4, but not 1 or 2. This still lets solo hunters who want a challenge be able to do it

And how Silver Rathalos can do a homing lunge from the opposite side of the area that's really fucking fast, and then resets to his previous position. It looks really weird
With Rathian in particular, some of the attacks just seem so sudden. When Pinky's poison tail flip starts from her neutral flying state, it immediately hits and the animation appears that she's suddenly a third of the way through it. Regardless if whether Rathian lines up for her charging attack or not, there's like no transition/warm up for it whatsoever, one moment the hitboxes are off and in the next they're on, running at full speed with no acceleration whatsoever.
Same goes for the two tail spins thing that so many Gen 1 wyverns share, though usually it's more telegraphed with the monster usually walking casually closer to the hunter like with Gravios and Diablos. Funny that they always spin clockwise too.

Bow in MHX got huge buffs.
Every bow can arc AND power shot, unless you are using a style that blocks one of those.
Guild style got a second back hop that instantly charges you to lv2 charge.
Bushido is ABSOLUTELY CHURAZY, dodging gives you a instant buffes level 2 charge and STILL lets you do power shots.
The hunting art that buffs your speed is unbalanced as fuck, I have no clue on what the fuck were they thinking when they made it, because walking at the same speed as running and having a lv3 charge by holding for less than a second is not balanced at all. Consider that everything you get from styles and arts DO stack with armor skills, and you'll easily get why bow is so strong.
