Is it okay for kids to play violent games? I had a friend who would not let his brother watch him play any fallout game because of the bloody mess perk.

I think some games are fine to play in front of young children, especially games where there's just coarse language being its main offender. When I used to watch my dad play games, I had no clue what "fuck" meant and got surprised years later when I found out The Longest Journey, which was the coolest game I watched him play in my opinion, had constant use of that word. Kids don't remember things they don't understand. Stuff like highly detailed blood and violence, though, can freak kids out, so I'd avoid games with detailed violence.

I didn't play games, game systems growing up were expansive and my parents are refugees so... I have cousins and a niece around those ages. Whatever I play or watch someone in front of them I make sure it's something they can watch. My 10 year old cousins came over once and ask if I had GTA and if they could play it. They play it at a friend's place, and they go to strip club in the game. So as an adult, I do what I can do and not expose them to things until they are ready.
