Fuck you, Expert Mode is more fun specifically because you actually have to treat enemies as enemies instead of generic mooks. Plus some of them actually do have new behaviours. Actual pathfinding on occasion, new actions, and for bosses specifically entirely new mechanics that can change how you approach them especially since they deal so much damage.
Once you start making actual progress, the health sponginess doesn't even feel like it pops up that much. The biggest challenge from that is in the early game when you aren't properly prepared.
