It is, because "multiple races!" is being used as a selling point in EOV. However, 3 of the 4 races have a grand total of two classes each and subclassing is not making a return. So unlike EO3 or 4 you can't subclass a human into, say, a bushi.
Not to mention they're maming the different races have different stats and shit, which means absolutely nothing since you can't pick an elf fencer for example, only Necro/Warlock.

You're right about unlockable classes, I'm sure there'll still be at least one. Still, I'm pissed about the complete missed opportunity with having multiple races. They go through the trouble of giving them different stats and even making you choose what race you want to play as, only the throw it all out the window when the class selection screen appears. Each races select classes are tailor made to fit their stat distribution, making both mechanics redundant.

Final Fantasy combat only has you mashing on the attack command over and over because any sort of magic is just not worth it to use on enemies and bosses just end up being casting your strongest spells/using summons because they're almost always completely immune to status magic. Trying to do the same in EO gets you killed very quickly, on the other hand.
