I couldn't seem to find it anywhere, but is there a script to convert an image into an array of color codes?

Feel like using this would make a very quick way to generate tile maps, you know, just open paint, create an image of lets say 100x100 px size and start painting mountains in gray, grass in green and etc. Each pixel would represent a single tile and depending on the color of the pixel you would spawn different types of tiles.

Puzzle/platformer. That area focuses on the speed boost mechanic, stacking speed to navigate obstacles, and a jump boost youll combine with it.

After you navigate that area you can plant the "speed flowers" with a seed item you acquire as a reward. You'll use them to navigate areas previously inaccessible. Theres no story or anything, I'm trying to avoid all the cliché crap that everyone focuses on now and make interest purely motivated by visuals, mechanics, obstacles, item rewards, and the desire to explore more than some hamfisted story like "youre stuck in a computer/space base on mars, etc etc.

Id like it to be like games used to be in NES days and on, where the desire to explore and find the next mechanic are the main motivation as opposed to some "cinematic experience".

There will be a few different artstyles and areas differing from each other in aesthetic and mechanics to renew interest. Basic mechanics such as air dodging, speed/jump boosts, ground slam, and interacting with the environment to change it are in place but each area will teach them to you organically without any instructions or button prompts. Youll also get a weapon that turns you into a little bug that allows you to get into tiny areas that are inside the environment that you won't know are there until you get the weapon.

OpenCV with c++. it can read images and stores data in a matrix with each cell having rgb values. Look at their 'Mat' objecttype which is the matrix object they often use.

Look up the OpenCV documentations. I'm using it right now for a course for my compsci degree. It's a pretty fucking amazing framework for computer vision stuff. it can easily give you a 2d array of rgb values of a pic. Can't give it right now as I forgot the exact syntax and am on phone but you should find it easily on google

They do attack if you get close.
But all in all the balls are a workaround for the simple AI they have.
The player has so much mobility that enemies that just attack up close would either be completely harmless or impossible to avoid depending on their speed.

We can hopefully get more complex enemies working for the next demo.

Are there any guides about creating good characters? I have a couple of ideas but I don't really know how to realize them, I don't want the dialogue to sound cringy or something like that
