People bitch a lot about this stealth no armor phase, but honestly it's always good to test your capacities when you've been used to be a walking death canon.

Nier is a game that does this kind of thing a lot, mostly by trying to be creative with camera angles but there are other gameplay switches as well.
Here are some things it turns into:
sidescroller
full on text adventure
rail shooter
puzzle game
and a failed attempt at being a bullet hell (bullets are blockable/breakable sadly)
Also, just a lot of camera angle changes that make the game feel a lot different such as resident evil style fixed angles
Pulling back the camera to the point where it looks like an RTS with tons of enemies on screen.
Also Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth plays as a first person adventure game for the first 1/3rd of the game then transitions to shooter.

I played it, hesitated to post but it kind of ruined the feeling of helplessness and fright it started. Guns are way too op and ammo too abundant
