The marriage system is great.
Rather than pandering to waifufags, as is so common these days, Bethesda instead decided to have a marriage system that is entirely unfulfilling and based around practical convenience rather than romantic love. You also can't have your own kids, only adopt orphans. The best part is when the DLC added waifu shit characters Bethesda set them as not marriageable.

No distinction between main, side and misc. skills, so leveling anything contributes to total level.
Enemies scale with your level.
So if you read a conjuration skill book as a warrior who doesn't use conjuration your character is permanently weakened because it could've been a level of block or any skill you actually use instead

Skyrim's "I guess you'll do" romance system is the most realistic romance system to ever be implemented in a game. All it needed to be perfect was a "cheat on your spouse" mechanic. Bethesda deserve to be applauded for it.

It's sort of true in that's it's possible but it's something you have to try really hard to do deliberately, you are unlikely to stumble upon it.
Scaling in Skyrim is not as bad as it was in Oblivion. Leveling up does not level up all the enemies, it unlocks the next tier of enemies. Low level enemies will continue to exist in the game, it's just now you have the occasional higher tier enemy mixed in. Leveling also unlocks new tiers of equipment so you'll have access to obsidian, glass, etc. when you are first starting out in combat.
Also, attributes are gone. Unless you are fucking retarded you have been increasing you health, stamina and magicka pools appropriately so you aren't going to be slaughtered by high tier enemies immediately.
What is likely to happen if you max out a few non-combat skills before you do any combat at all is that for a while fights are going to be drawn out for longer than they should be. You will be inherently power leveling your combat skills by engaging high tier enemies with low combat skill levels so it's not going to last to long.
There are two things you will be legitimately fucked in, your armor and block skills. They will level very fast, probably faster than your combat skills, but you are going to need a lot health potions to soak up the huge amounts of damage you will be taking while those a low level.
