What went wrong?
>>
feels like I was playing an elaborate Skyrim mod and I've become bored to death of Skyrim
>>
Voiced protagonists seemed to breed a lot of issues which stifled roll playing elements. Also I think these games need a level cap so you can't be everything and they seemed to go to far with the "morally gray" factions, turning them all into shit stains.
>>
>>332741346
a huge river that was as shallow as a kiddie pool.
>>
>skills were removed for no good reason
>perk system is awful
>4 voice-acted options for dialog, killing off any RPing options that aren't railroaded by Bethesda
>the 4 options are usually "yes","no","yes(sarcasm)",and "tell me more"
Basebuilding is clunky
>difficult settings only affected the amount of bullets you had to expend to kill the enemy
>the institute's motivation for their actions is usually fucking retarded.
>>
Can't holster gun
Removed RPG elements
SHIT linear dialogue system with only 4 choices

Retarded story
Least quests at launch in a Bethesda game

Lore inconsistencies that the devs laugh off as "who cares, nerd"
>>

Basically Bethesda became a full-on Borderlands sellout.

>>
>>332741976
>Or do you mean that it's not visible when holstered?

this is what people mean

bethesda knows that it fucks with peoples' sense of immersion, yet they were too lazy to include it

with each new release, whether its TES or Fallout, they are stripping their games from more and more roleplay elements, and it's starting to fucking suck
>>
>>332741346
It wasn't a rpg first of all.
And the whole story of finding your baby was terrible handled.
You couldn't use over armor all the clothes and not all the clothes were upgradeable.

It felt too...gamey? Everything was in service of you the player. It didn't feel like a real world.

Everything seemed a little too copy pasted, and the number of radiant quests and the fact you just can't stop getting them kind of numb you to the game fairly quickly.

The voiced protagonist didn't help much either

C-calm down Todd, It's okay.

I bought your game.
>>
>>332741976
Exactly

I play 3rd person, maybe it doesn't bug most people but having your gun just dissapear completely looks really lazily done and then you run around unarmed

Ffs, in all the trailers and on the back of the box they show the wanderer with a rifle on his back. It's all about the fashion.
>>
>>332742517
Ah, that's reasonable. That reminds me of my biggest nitpick with the game, you cannot break down skeletons or corpses without a mod. It drives me insane that 200 year after the bombs dropped, people are still living with corpses, I was so excited to be allowed to break down the bodies especially because bone is such an important resource in making cutting fluid.

Survival Beta patch makes Fallout 4 try to contact "mods.bethesda.net" when the main menu loads...

I wonder if they got us by the balls finally or if this is just another battle they are destined to lose. The workarounds discovered so far are buggy as shit and unreliable.

>mfw with the newest version, you will only be able to install mods approved by bethesda.net
>mfw these mods will cost money
>mfw bethesda is suicidally greedy

also, additional reasons why fallout 4 is not a very good game:
(preston garvey.)
it's so uncontroversial and streamlined that it's starting to become another mediocre title in the aaa swamp.
(i have something different for you, another settlement needs our help.)
no real choices and no real consequences - gone are the days where you could play as a sociopathic, anarchistic scumbag, in the end you are a bitch for one of the 4 main factions.
(i'll mark it on your map.)
they removed prostitutes because of butthurt feminists, even though prostitution is one of the first business models that will establish in a primitive society.
(in the meantime, offer help to any settlements.)
there is no real physical interaction with your companions.
no kissing, no hugging, not even a fucking handshake.
(i found a promising spot for a new settlement.)
the behaviours and gestures are so unnatural and feel like a 1998 game.
if it weren't for the brutality, the game could have been rated pg.
also the facial animations throw me into the deepest pit of the uncanny valley.
(preston garvey.)

another thing: after 210 years, the place would have been conquered by nature with huge forests.
have you guys seen recent pictures of chernobyl? the nuclear fallout was way bigger than that of an atom bomb.
it's only been 30 years since the incident and the place looks like a fucking jungle.

you want to play a decent post apocalyptic game?
try the stalker series.
>>
>>332745421
You're forced to be their general, you're forced to accept the quests wether you do them or not, your character's personality is established at the beginning of the game, his/her background is pre-determined, is middle-class with one child ... et cetera.

Fallout 4 is such a shitty RPG.
>>
>>332745421
Well the nukes in the fallout world work much differently than ours do.

You're also comparing a nuclear plant disaster to a fuckton of nuclear bombs dropped everywhere, so we don't really know how long it would take for plants to grow back

>Well the nukes in the fallout world work much differently than ours do.

and why would they?

>You're also comparing a nuclear plant disaster to a fuckton of nuclear bombs dropped everywhere

but that is the point.
the amount of radioactive fallout from a nuclear plant meltdown is way higher than that of an actual atomic bomb.
the explosive damage is not what would hinder plants to grow back, it is the amount of radioactive isotopes, killing off any kind of plant life.
you know what would have actually happend if the radiation was everywhere so high, that not even the most primitive plants would survive?
humanity would have died out the moment, the first vault dwellers exited their vaults and tried to create offspring.
radiation would have made everyone sterile.
humans are way more vulnerable to readiaton damage than plants.
it doesn't make any sense.

omfg, glad i am not the only one who noticed.
i sometimes like to believe it's some kind of running gag, the developers made on purpose because there is no way something so blatantly shitty and unimmersive could happen in a bethe...oh well nevermind.
>>
>>332746036
the FEV virus, which i think was described in fallout 1 or 2 was responsible for killing all things.

i could be wrong, its been years since i played through those games.
>>
>>332746305
ok, but it it is still very unrealistic, that humans can actually survive and settle in areas, where radiation is so high, that even plant life can not thrive.
the whole place would be a death-zone for any non-mutated creature, for the next 50.000 years or so.
>>
>>332741346
it was boring, i slogged through the brotherhood of steel quests then stopped playing altogether.

When I heard settlements I thought of starting with shanty towns and shitty buildings and moving up to creating wasteland wonders. My mistake I guess. You got me again, Todd.
