Share the moment where you realized you were too old for that game

I start: playing Life is Strange
I cannot understand what's interesting in a teen simulator
>>
>>332730645
You can't understand what's interesting about Life is Strange because Life is Strange isn't interesting
>>
Not for a game but I realized i'm too old for /v/ when people started having childhood nostalgia for 6th gen
>>
>>332730645
You're never too old for lesbians, so keep playing.

When the original Assassin's Creed was being shown off at E3. All my buddies thought it looked cool but it was the type of thing where absolutely nothing interested me about it. And it kept happening with every release.

I tried playing a 3DS Mario.

It wasn't fun at all.

No dude I think you just discovered that it's a shitty game

It's legitimately bad

It's a game that decided to be a story book instead, but it was awful at that too, don't feel bad.

You can blame video game journalists for telling the devs to concentrate on the one-note memory sequences from Remember Me instead of improving on the rest of the game.

really? Both of that 3ds platforms are pretty good.

Obviously they are more of the same shit that mario games have been for the last 7 or so years,

Neat observation
I recently finished remember me so I thought this one was going to be fun
>>
>>332730645

I finished my work for the day and just sat around doing nothing

I didn't feel like playing any games that I normally played
I tried out some games like The Long Dark and Helldivers, but they couldn't keep my interest.
I just got drunk and listened to music before going to bed

Haven't felt the urge to really sit down and play a video game since, and because Video Games were basically my only hobby up until this point I'm going out of my mind with boredom. I haven't found any books to keep me engaged. I hate my art (Don't get excited, it's literally not much better than high-school notebook sketches tier)too much to practice it for more than an hour or so at a time.

I just feel like nothing makes me happy so I'm probably going to kill myself soonish.

quit procrastinating work on your art etc

https://www.youtube.com/user/ProkoTV/videos

Loomis, Hampton, Vilppu, Bridgman etc

if you can't draw from life very well I suggest starting out tracing etc

You have to force your mind into liking it. I saw a video once that it's like riding a bike every day, once you start doing it so often for a month or two it'll feel weird not drawing
>>

I don't hate the fact that kids give me the bantz for something or nothing, I hate the fact that kids can give me the bantz but I suck so much shit at my banter that I don't respond.

Someone tells me to fuck off and lists off reasons why I'm a total fuck head and I have no counter to it, nothing comes to mind other than stupid "your mom" jibes and it infuriates the shit out of me.
>>
>>332730645
I liked Life is Strange but then again I like VNs and it had some twin peaks references and its set in the same state I live in. The diner is based off a real one in Oregon.
>>
>>332733263
I am sort of like this but my drawing is finally starting to reach a point where I can show stuff to other people and it won't be horrible looking and I am sort of proud of it.

Also I still enjoy playing videogames.
>>
>>332733663
You sound insecure. Why do you feel the need to counter? Why do you feel the need to defend yourself to an anonymous person in a videogame? I love shit talkers because they're fun to mess with.
>>
>>332733263
>I just feel like nothing makes me happy so I'm probably going to kill myself soonish.
Don't feel so confident you'll be able to pull it off, killing yourself is harder than it looks. My attempt at hanging was a fucking disaster.
>>
>>332730645
An older guy would totally dig a teen simulator precisely because he's old.
>>
>>332733757
I don't feel the need to counter, I feel angry because I don't have the option to counter.

I can't mess with them because I don't have the wit to do so, unless you think responding with "haha but something something your mom" is messing with them, because that is the extent of my witticism.

Replaying Kingdom Hearts desu. Has some fun gameplay, nice music, and I like some of its quirkiness, but it's obviously very much a deviantart teen's wet dream. The fact I was 9 when it came out probably does change my view of the series. It just seemed so cool to be able to fight Disney villains in that way, and I just enjoyed the ride.

I kind of miss those days of being hype over screenshots of KH2, browsing a KH forum and discovering what things like "Yaoi" and "XD" meant.
>>
>>332730645
As a young person, I don't understand life is strange either. It's how grandpas assume millenials talk.
>>
>>332733836
Completely untrue. Jeez, how young/underage are you?

I think it's retardedly annoying when my college-aged friends say stupid shit like "swipe left" or talk about instagram/snapchat. I also work as a teacher and find the hoverboard/swagway thing to be a fucking travesty.

I hate teenagers and post-teens.
>>
>>332734128

>>
>>332730958
People already have nostalgia for 7h gen
>>
>>332733978
If you aren't doing anything in life worth being excited for, never get exercise or enough sleep, sunlight etc. then of course you'll be depressed. I'm not saying depression can't be biological but sometimes people "depress" themselves. In cases like that it's more important to address the problems rather than mask them with drugs. Although antidepressants can be a good kick start to get you out of your funk momentarily and working on those issues.
>>
>>332734387
10 years old by now, I've been nostalgic for meals I ate last week.

Jesus fuck this is depressing
>>
>>332734128
This is going to sound shit but watch at least 6 episodes. If you don't "get" it by then then leave it.
>>
>>332734128
i hated life is strange, but stick it out with twin peaks, the mystery is pretty interesting. that said i'm a bit of a sucker for lynchian stuff so parts of the plot pulled me in that wouldnt have otherwise. there's still quite a bit to enjoy and it's worth it to finish the first season since i don't remember it even being that long.
>>
>>332730645

For me it's not "that game", it's "those games".

Every other Japanese game I play these days is chock full of "cutesy" anime girls acting like retards and "nothing personal, kid" fighting. I'm just too old for that sort of shit now.
>>
>>332733663
Just repeat everything they say back to them in your falsetto (high pitch voice). It's juvenile as fuck, takes no effort, and it infuriates the shit out of those little faggots if you keep doing it.
>>
>>332730645

>>
>>332734205
same here. The combat is very different to how I remember, but its astonishing how many bits of this games dialogue are burned into my brain. Every other line in the beginner island. And I only played the game once as a kid I think.
>>
>>332734605
I'm a fan of Lynch too, and I think his style works way better with film than TV. Twin Peaks is still a great show though, although you can't really only watch the first season considering you don't find out who the killer is till season 2.
>>
>>332730958
But the sixth gen was about 10 years ago Anon, give or take a few years. It started, what, like 2000-2002 or so? And 'ended' like 2006 or so. That's 10-16 years. That is about the right amount of time to grow up and look back fondly on something. Doesn't hurt that the sixth gen was arguably the last gen that was focused on hardcore games for more core audiences.
>>
>>332734851
I just space those games out. I don't get annoyed at the power of friendship and all that shit because I play other types of games as well. God help anyone that only plays them.

It's not the fact it's about teenagers, it's about the fact that teenage culture has changed so much that you do not understand it.

If you played a game about a teenager from a more conservative population in a regular non-faggot school, you would understand more of it.
>>
>>332734972

The plan was you were never meant to find out who the killer was. The TV network forced them to came up with a guilty party for the second season and it led to Lynch abandoning the show. I think you missed the point of the show.

You might find a reason to live before the year is over.

Why do you think I missed the point of the show? And also why would Ray Wise be going crazy with guilt/slipping into the Bob mindset all through season 1 if he wasn't meant to be the killer? What do you think the point of the show is anyway?
>>
>>332735554
There is a gap in your 20s (depending on your family structure obviously) where you don't have much interaction with kids. Once your friends and siblings start having kids, your mind will be blown at how out of touch your preferences will seem.

Littlebigplanet Vita.

LBP1 and 2 were my absolute favorite games between 2009-2011, playing the vita version for the first time in 2016 made me realize how kiddy and unchallenging the game is despite its powerful creation tools

How about an I'm too young for this?
CRPGs aren't casual enough for me. It seems like every time I try to go for a certain build and for one reason or another, I get stuck at a certain point where it's like a no-win situation. After that, I already spend about 10 hours in, I lose all motivation to play.

Why wouldn't you fap to superior 2d?

Don't you understand yet? How long have you been on the internet? To put it simply, 2D allows you to fap to stuff that isn't possible in real life, and the varying art styles means you can fap to very different body types, some not possible in real life. It's like an adult playground where the imagination is the limit.

Only underages are the ones who can actually still fap to 3D shit, that means you're either young or you are a complete normie who has never left his comfort zone, in which case I'm wondering what you're doing here instead of facebook.

Not "that game" but video games in general.

This is not up for debate.

Lynch has flat out said he had no intention of ever revealing who the killer was and that the network forced him to. Apparently he considers acquiescing to the network demands to be one of his biggest regrets.

If you know anything about Lynch you know he loves weird and spooky shit and that he loves mocking the people that think there is a deep meaning behind that stuff.

Even if the killer was never going to be revealed, every revelation in the show is related to uncovering another aspect of the murder. Saying the show is not about the murder is preposterous. If it had only been used as a hook to bring in "the outsider" as you claimed, that would be one thing, but the search for the killer literally moves the plot forward through the entire show. You seem to think that something being left open-ended means it never mattered at all.

Where I lived there was a small gap in the coastal cliffs, where the waves hammered into the walls so hard they'd spray water across a few hundred meters. Even still, I feel like there's a huge discrepancy between people like us, who actually play video games, and casuals. Seems like most of the people I know are one of two kinds of casuals: either mega casuals who only play CoD, sports games, and GTA, or the sort who branch out into other games, like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and/or Fallout but don't seem to be aware of all the other more under-the-radar games that come out and only seem to play those games for social status. This is the best advice. I mean what do you have to lose? You might get a few sidelong glances during the first couple of weeks of gym, thats it. Instead of killing yourself, buy a 1 year gym membership and spend 6-8h a week training, you will feel a lot better, more energetic and your self-confidence and self-esteem will surge. Should be an easy choice, was for me atleast.

“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

Nobody fucking talks like they do on Life is Strange; it was written by a middle-aged French man doing a ridiculous impression of what American teenagers would sound like if they were written by someone trying desperately hard to sound like Joss Whedon.

It's also part of this new, castrated version of adventure games, where there are no puzzles, and the most level of interaction you get is choosing different lines of dialog that ultimately change nothing.

Fucking this.

I watched a bit of it on YT and fucking cringed at the dialogue. It's so bad. The slang, I'm pretty sure, is horribly outdated or doesn't even fit the locale of the game.

I plan on playing it eventually though, seems kind of interesting still. The time rewinding gimmick makes it look like it has more gameplay than most other games of its type. But holy shit is that dialogue terrible.

At the very least, they required some lateral thinking, or at the very least, trial and error/brute force puzzle solving.

There was a Scooby-Doo point-and-click adventure, and one of the obstacles was needing a flashlight, so you had to combine a pulltab from a soda can, a Christmas light, and a battery into a makeshift flashlight.

In modern "adventure games" (like LiS and everything Telltale has made since The Walking Dead), every "puzzle" usually amounts to nothing more than you finding a thing, and then sometime later an NPC explicitly telling you they need a thing, at which point you give them the thing.

I'm 20 and no matter what game I play I constantly have to remind myself that I should be doing something productive like people of my age instead sitting home and playing 15 hours of video games a day. No matter if it's old or new, same shit.

It's the anonymity. The absolute lack of consequences and traceability. No identity, no account, no upvote count or likes or whatever to differentiate one anon from another, allowing you to post whatever you want however you want and most importantly allowing you to FUCK UP. Royally. Entirely. Be completely wrong, post the most stupid shit, make the biggest mistakes. And it's just one 404'd thread away from being erased and forgotten. So you don't have to reread twice and be careful about what you're typing like you would on any other forum where you actually have an identity that differentiate from the mass that people can point back and say "hey that's the retard that posted X stupid shit before disregard him" or whatever.

Jews are not magic. People do not learn to believe that water is hot and fire is wet if you tell them so, when they have memories of interacting with water and fire.

I get the general idea that violence towards other human beings is a bad idea, and the idea that "certain types of violence are okay" should be intentionally deprogrammed from people. I get that ntentionally neglecting other human beings to futher your own ends is, if taken on a large enough scale, a bad idea.

However, somehow a jump was made from "nigger lynching and whipping niggers to make them work harder is bad" to "Any differences between niggers and whites are purely due to the zeitgeist, and the best possible world is one where these differences are erased through equality of outcome"
You can treat a person as a lesser and still have BOTH of you come out with a positive outcome! Any guild leader, server admin, or parent knows this.
Moreover, it doesn't matter if people are the same or different, so long as everyone's productive and content. It might even be better for people to stay different so you can specialise.

None of this makes any sense to me. Not the Goals of the pro-diversity movement, nor the Means by which they intend to reach the goals, nor the Facts on which their plans are based.
"Goal - Make women happy"
"Plan - Encourage married motherhood + increase the respect and value society places on mothers"
"Facts - Most women are chemically programmed to enjoy raising babby, and having mommies is absolutely necessary to ensure we don't go extinct, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince people that if not going extinct is valuable, then mommies are valuable"
Regardless of if you think that goal is worthwhile or a complete waste of everyone's time, at least the goal makes sense.

But this modern pro-diversity stuff is as confusing to me as the chat rules on twitch.tv .

I also think it's because you get to strip all the meaningless social norms that happen in real life and be goofy and shit but still get to have at least semi-meaningful discussions like this one.

Got a source on that, other than your ass?
I'm onto your hasbara, shill.

I find that when I'm happier, I get better at video games, and my intelligence improves.
It isn't just a perspective thing. I literally get more stage clears and less misses if I'm already happy when I get cranking, and I clear more puzzles per hour while happy too.
I have no idea why the fuck this is.

You arent "too old", kids these days are just fucked in the head at exponentially increased rates, and some vidya caters to them

Nothing wrong about equality. The problem is that SJW realized that equality doesn't help them at all and pretending that White Males are all pigs gives them benefits.

Good god I had a blast with that $60 level editor, making the most TrollBullshit maps, that screw with the player's expectations and put in a big "Ha ha you did a dumb thing you big dumb dumb" after each of them.

I get a bit salty when I see people skip my level tho. THE ENTIRE POINT IS THAT YOU FEEL UPSET! Being amused by the trolling (even if the victim is you) is where the entertainment comes from!
>>
>>332741457
Do you really think that kids these days are fucked? I tend to be skeptical because people are quick to point out that every generation has looked down on the next one, but damn the evidence is really stacking up that humanity has gone too far.

Back in my day, we'd beat your ass for being a furry tranny brony or whatever people are calling themselves nowadays.

But now we've got all these young'uns masturbating to shemales. "traps" they call 'em, kind of a funny name if you ask me, back in my day a "trap" was something you DIDN'T want to stumble into.

It's the internet's fault.

It was too primitive and not mainstream enough to fuck us up, but now kids are growing up with shit like pewdiepie and social media.
>>
>>332741583
Not him, but yes, they are. This can be proven though test scores. And you might think "Well they're more technically advanced!", but really, the 90s kids are the best here. For modern teens, Android and iOS has been here for most of their lives and they don't know what it's like to "fiddle with something" or "debug an issue". Aside from that, social justice nonsense infests the schools like you wouldn't believe. Sure, the internet 20-somethings collectively laugh at people like AIDS Skrillex, but they're not targeting us: they're targeting young kids.

But those aren't exactly society toppling problems, more like cultural grievances.

I enjoy a good walkthrough or speedrun from time to time
But fuck, I hate the lets play format, the stupid reactions and commentary
worst of all, they don't even play it good, or have any type of dexterity
its like a virtual vidya pal, that always plays the game while you are his bitch

Fuck I'm old
>>
>>332741910
What test scores? If humanity is really getting statistically dumber then that would about prove we're fucked.

>>332741925
These kids are growing up thinking twitter shit is real life.

people are bound to wake up from it. all bullshit drama gets too old for it's own good eventually.
