To be fair Bosses even then weren't really that much of a thing in FPSes. Both Wolfenstien and Doom did that.
Final boss of the last real Halo game and this is what they do. Fighting a Scarab is a better fight than this was.
Not just the battle, but the concept of "giant flying dragon thing" was pretty unoriginal

Just beat Dungeon Siege 1 about 5 minutes ago, not only was the final boss dissapointing, the end of the game was non-exsistant. No cutscene or anything just boop back to the main menu.

Might as well include most Final Fantasys and JRPGs in general. No matter how many forms they have or how big a introduction cutscene they get it doesn't matter if they can barely scratch you and they go down in 45 seconds. What is the point of the final boss if they're going to be piss easy and just another speed bump to keep you away from superbosses 1-30.

The only thing that sold it was the whol Nemisis system, which wasn't innovative, considering Playstation 1 games had this mechanic.

It's mostly problem because JRPG devs always design the games so that there are superbosses that practically require breaking the game by some seriously OP shit, and as result the main story becomes childishly easy if you use that OP stuff there. Maybe they should just leave the most overpowered things out of their games and make superbosses a tad bit easier that you can actually beat them without serious abuse of gameplay mechanics.
