Played for YEARS, gave up because servers were desert and only 5 dedicated players played outside jp.
Its an AMAZING game.
it has some moba mechanics-BUT
it is more like an rts because you literally decide in real time wich units spawn, you use mana(gold)to unlock different tiers and units fight using a rock-paper-scissors mechanic
its like this: you have lanes, but instead of towers you get "ghosts", aka nodes, focal points in between the lanes.. nodes spawn 1hp creatures costantly. When you get control of a node, it starts to give you mana, wich is the currecny of the game(like gold) used to create minions, unlock new minions-usually stronger ones-items and everything.
You basically use minions to get control of the lanes and to support you in combat, and you can win ONLY by using minions because they are the only ones who can destroy the enemy's base.
Its not like most rts where" who unlocks first the flying tier wins", here you MUST adapt to every move your opponents pulls out and counter with REAL strategy.
Also, you get to command an avatar of destruction-your character-and you literally dash at incredible speed everyhwere to carry minions around and help them in the most critical zones-but mind that your opponent will do the same.
also, when two heroes clash is literally back to guilty gear classic(just, 3d and a lot more cluncky), with combos, roman cancels, overdrives and a lot of stuff blowing up
You also have a limited inventory to buy stuff with mana, but instead of perma buff like regular mobas those are mostly 1 use items-you can also carry in your inventory your minions(the smaller ones at least).
the games has an INCREDIBLE depth in it.
You have great rts elements, the best part of mobas without the cancer on them, you have fighting game elements, and a varied roster with different armies that actually feels different.
The story mode is...shit, but the final boss is THE BEST. literally, so epic.

The game is great, but its basically a rehash of GGXX... all GGs after XX were under sega(aka no daisuke) and were terrible for a reason-isuka was embarassing, dust striker-lets not talk about dust strikers-, AC and so on. Thats the reason why in GG2 a lot of characters are not even nominated-because SEGA still had royaltes on the characters(how low sega has sunk...) After he made the game he always wanted to do it just seems strange he goes back to the old (but most succesful version) by his own will. Its more likely that a project for a GG2 sequel or a GG3 had been cut(or put in hold)because they would most likely fail-like gg2 has, and they asked him to make another XX because thats what people want and thats what sells.

Point is, BB is ASW's main money maker and biggest franchise currently. There was no reason to even bother doing a new GG when, like you said, there was still a decent playerbase for XX. And specially not with an experimental graphic art style and controversial system changes (Blitz Shield, Danger Time and the overhauled RC).

the worst flaw is the lack of high enemy concentration meaning you're always having to walk around looking for groups of tightly clustered enemies to kill, which is further impeded by the lack of a dash/sprint function.

At some points humans managed to find and utilize magic. They used magic to put together some biomechanical "things" (I don't recall if they ever explained what gears really are), but Justice then began controlling them and declared war on humans. At the end of Guilty Gear (1), Justice was killed, and gears were slowly eradicated from existence following those events.
Then comes around Dizzy, who is also a gear, and she and Ky have a son who is a gear-human hybrid or something.

The Backyard, which to the GG world is like the Computer running a video game. Everything that exists in their world is because of the Backyard.
A force known as the "Universal Will" made contact with Justice and was indirectly responsible for all the shit attributed to Justice (Japan's destruction, the wars, etc.) as a result. That contact was severed but not before it decided to use Justice as a template, or rather the woman within it; Aria. In further attempts to murder us all for reasons left in the air, it started pumping out replicas of Aria collectively known as Valentines. They are created because the Universal Will itself can't manifest in the normal world so it uses them to do its bidding. Xrd makes this all the more convoluted and involves the fucking Pope who is some hot chick with a fat rack who is apparently acting as another contact or some shit, I don't fucking know.
tl;dr Something wants us dead and is using The Backyard to pump out clones to further its goals of destruction.

First Valentine is almost a 1:1 copy of Aria except eye colour, Ramlethal Valentine is considerably different but has the same kind of familiars, Elphelt Valentine is like Aria Hyper Waiifu Edition.
The original was able to become a Justice copy and command Gears, I don't know whether the others can. Ramlethal was just sent to wipe out humanity, Elphelt is for the revival of Justice.

Faust was a master surgeon called Baldman. There was a girl that was going to die, and Baldman decided to do an experimental surgery in order save her life, but failed.
