Is Sam Lake the most handsome developer out there?
It's either him or Lorne.
>>332675241
What a nice guy.
>>332673449
currently playing. it's gorgeous, probably going to be my personal goty.
all the reviews so far has been "average"
>>332675241
lol he looked like he was having a stroke when asked if he could make a better max payne movie
>>332675241
Some questions asked here are surprisingly on the nose and the answers are even more surprising.
Sam seems like a chill guy, the fact that he said he enjoyed making Alan Wake more than Quantum Break shows he isn't a huge shill.
He seems like such a nice and passionate dude, it's a shame that the games Remedy are making do nothing for me.
>>332676438
>127gb install
Nah, Im good. I was offered an early copy a few days ago.
>>332676439
literally 1 review that gave a 8.5...?
what the fuck are you talking about....
>>332676439
there's been like 1 review by some internet meme reviewer
I'm really sad that this game will bankrupt Remedy.
>>332673449
Kept my fingers crossed that Quantum Break would have a really entertaining story ever since it was announced and Lake has never disappointed me so far.
>>332677445
Microsoft already paid them
>>332673449
Will there be a parallel TV series or is it just a Red Alert-like fw cutscenes thing?
I wonder if someone's shouted "IT'S PAYNE, GET HIM" after him while he's out and about.
>>332677308
I'm trying not to be mean, but it's a XBONE, what else are you gonna install? Anyway, you can just remove it when you're done. I'd like to hear some Anon's opinions on the game. This board usually likes Remedy games.

>Sam seems like a chill guy, the fact that he said he enjoyed making Alan Wake more than Quantum Break shows he isn't a huge shill.
They had to reshoot the show and change all the actors and game models because of Spencer shutting down the Xbox TVTVTV production division but it let them rewrite the script, work with a different production company and get a new cast instead of the ones they had. So you could see why it was difficult since they had to change a lot of the game.
Sounds like MS have signed Alan Wake 2 already though from how much they have been promoting it with QB.

Remedy are yet to make a bad game, but this looks their worst. I still wanna play it though as Sam is great. I wish so much Rock star didn't get their dirty hands on Payne.
>>332680651
Not the guy you're replying to, but really, how much do you think he was in charge of?
He was co-writer for the comic, which he had no say in if it should be written or not, just like the game. It's like if Activision took hold of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and decided to re-write it and asked the Strugatsky brothers for 'advice' with their 'consent'.
>>332680651
it's damage control.
The game's reveal was received horribly and they had to do shit like that.
MP3 is shit.
>>332681226
I remember that, but it still wasn't as rough a reveal/release as 2 had. People were MAD.
I still ended up loving Max Payne 3 though.
>>332680978
Meme reviewer actually had some good things to say about it. The gun play is generic but the time abilities add a whole new depth to the gameplay. It's like what happened with Alan wake and the light
>>332681679
You talking about Max Payne 2? That's a load of shit. First of all you have to consider the marketing differences between Remedy's Max Payne games and Rockstar.
And Lastly look at this, what they wanted Alan Wake to be, but it was neutered by publishers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Fqb5VRtTL8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms7sAv_DnMc
Debating if I should get this, even though I've never played Max Payne or Alan Wake. Afterwards, I might trade my Xbone with my younger brother for his PS4 when DaSIII comes out since I barely pay for Xbox Live and I want to also play the Bloodborne expansion (my older brother also has a PS4 that I played on, but he doesn't like me taking it to my room).
How do you pronounce his real finnish name?
>>332673449
holy shit is that max payne? hes a real person?
>>332682343
Yes Max Payne is actually Sam Lake. Both 1 and 2 are based upon his life and can be considered true stories.
>>332682337
'Hand-sum G-eye'
>>332682161
>You talking about Max Payne 2? That's a load of shit.
I don't know, man. It's been a bunch of years but I remember people being LIVID about everything from Max's big model/face change, the writing, the comics, the whole love interest story, the changes to bullet time. Everything. Angry Max Payne fans all over the place.
But again, I didn't understand their shit and ended up really liking Max Payne 2.

I lived with my friends, and I one friend had this magazine sitting in this little rack by the toilet.

All over what place? 4chan in its infancy? What part of the internet were you on that was so active during the late 2003 that was passionate about Max Payne?
I played both games on release even though my computer sucked and I had to sit through ~5 minutes of loading screens. Where on earth did you find active discussions about this game?
Hope you upgraded your PC
>>332682796
Fug
U god be der :DDDDD
I can't hope but feel like Quantum Break is going to be a blunder.
I really don't get why Microsoft insists so much on having Remedy being a first-party studio. They're not really a big studio, size-wise or popularity wise. Almost no "gamer" today even knows who Max Payne is.
I also don't see anything fresh in Quantum Break, not even marketing team trying to make the game a big deal.
I kind of wish they had used a non-retarded rendition of Sam Lake's face for future Max Payne games instead of recasting him,
>>332682337

>>332679095
What exactly make Alan Wake so appealing that people claim they want a sequel? It was okay at best
>>332683126
outdated. they switched Recommended to Ultra.
>Hurr Durr, my PC is so powerful, fucking peasants holding us back
>Hey, there a game for your powerful PC
>The fuck? What kind of requirements are those, no way my PC will run it, downgrade that shit!
>>332683096
He didn't. He's trying to be "cool oldfriend". People were happy with Max Payne 2, almost universally. The largest complaint I heard at the time was how taxing it was for older PCs.
And a point of reference for the poster of the lie, I've been talking about games online since my dad and I bought a DSVD.
>>332683202
Remedy has a pretty sweet gig going on with Microsoft. They get a steady paycheck and Microsoft lets them have like half a decade of development time per game. They even allow PC versions.
They've already signed on for Alan Wake 2.
>>332683096
probably Gamespot and big places like that, Gamefaqs, maybe even Segasages which was IGN before IGN iirc. And yeah, that was obviously before 4chan (atleast before knew what this place was). But yeah, people were angry, but like >>332683613 says when it came out people were happy. Maybe not as happy as they were with the first game, but still.
>>332683613
My big complaint is how they screwed up the bullet time in MP2. Being able to move at normal speed while everything else was is slow was dumb.
I'm glad MP3 went back to the MP1 style.
>>332675241
>Didn't ask if Poets of the Fall will be making the end theme for Quantum Break
One fucking job
>>332682161
>what they wanted Alan Wake to be, but it was neutered by publishers
It really was a shame, I remember reading about that from a finnish gaming magazine. Basically even Rockstar didn't want to fund Alan Wake, guess even Rockstar thought a pc only game wouldn't be profitable enough. Unfortunately the only publisher that was interested in it was MS and ofcourse they had to cut a lot of stuff for it to run on the 360.
>>332675897
Sam is the second most.
>>332684898
>literal manlet
You'd have to be a pedophile to find howard attractive.
>>332684898
Why did they make Payne look smug, constipated and surprised?
>>332684062
So, wait, you're saying the original fans were upset about the change of Max Payne 2, and use this as a defense for Max Payne 3's sales, when in reality Max Payne 3 has nothing in common with the Max Payne series other than the name and some vague references?
Am I getting this right?

I never mentioned sales. I just said up that while the MP3 reveal and backlash was savage, I remember the response to 2's changes being worse. >>332681679
but now that I think about it I think the angriest I've seen this fanbase get is when it was said that they were changing the Max voice actor for 3, which they obviously went back on.
>>332675241
this happens when you are not american and you really like making games
oh yeah, you have to be talented though
>>332686118
>I just said up that while the MP3 reveal and backlash was savage, I remember the response to 2's changes being worse.
So the backlash you remember being worse for was for the game made by a small game developer named Remedy, but you didn't notice the backlash for a huge AAA developer and publisher like Rockstar?
I think we need Sherlock Holmes for this one.I don't mean to attack you personally, but please, let's see the obvious, they're a huge company with a multitude of fanboys.
>>332686208
>when you are not American
Just have to be as obnoxious as possible at every given opportunity, don't you?

a sociopath

>>332686381
It was the same fanbase yelling, just a bunch of years later.
and this is all in my head obviously but the "Why does he have a shaved head!?!" was not as bad as "Why doesn't he make the face anymore!? Who is this!?" for example. But I'm probably blowing it all out of proportion.
The backlash for adding things like a cover system and a weapon limit was loud as hell.
>>332683390

>>332675897
Their fair countenance is propably a result of the heart they put into their creations.
I want Romero's hair.
>>332687209
You're viewing it the same way modern game journalists view DmC compared to the old games. We're not complaining that Max Payne is fat and bald, just the same they're not complaining that Dante's hair isn't white.
We're complaining about the substance, the way the character behave, the way the story is told, the gameplay, etc. And while the mechanics may be superior, the flow of the gameplay sucks, with constant interruptions that are not just cutscenes but little interventions when you try to push a button or do the most monotonous task, it just ruins everything.
The same way the lack of depth ruins DmC and not Dante's hair color, as the 'journalists' would have you believe.
>>332687130
