Well it's the first boss so it's going to be easy as fuck anyway, and the invincibility box rewards exploration, which was much more present in CD than the other 2D games.
Early 90's Sonic had a feeling to it that just doesn't seem like it's there anymore.
I'm not good at describing shit but I mean when a game wants to do a throwback to those days they just include some checkerboards and call it a day, but that's only part of the aesthetic. It's missing the more "tech vs nature" feel if I had to describe it I guess. Maybe that's not even accurate I don't know. I just know something feels missing ever since the leap to 3D happened in full force.
In a way I honestly think Lost World is the closest the series has come since the fifth gen to replicating that feel.

Really? I give kudos to Lost World for bringing back the animals Sonic has to rescue, but if anything Lost World is the game that stinks most of "include checkerboards and call it a day". The environments just look like Mario Galaxy with less interesting lighting and more generic geometric patterns.
