Gone home is a walking simulator. You walk from point A to point B and the narrator talks to you. There isn't any player interaction exceptin the beginning where you find the key to the front door
Most point and click adventures require logic, puzzle solving, attention to detail, and exploration. Because of how they are played you can have completely different genres of point and click from horror, comedy, detective, etc.
