It's only like Cave Story in the sense that the graphics are hyper minimalist. Unlike Cave Story, it doesn't work, and runs straight towards 'pixelshit' instead of being proper pixel graphics.

The powerups are lame, especially the ridiculously limited attack abilities, which innovate on the original Metroid by not only including the charge beam, but by not including anything else. Only the grapple is fun, and even then it's nothing special in combat.
